Default Vegas to put AHL team in Sacramento CA, Fresno CA, or Summerlin NV

per the Las Vegas Review-Journal

Would most certainly mean the team will be in the AHL pacific division.

Sacramento would put 3 AHL teams in real close proximity to each other. Stockton, Sacramento, and San Jose are all within an hour drive of each other.

Fresno is about a 2.5 hour drive southeast of Stockton

Summerlin is a suburb of Las Vegas would give the expansion team the enviable situation of having the affiliate and NHL team in the same city. However two pro hockey teams in the same city might split ticket sales and hinder building a NHL brand with the locals.

With Arizona moving their team to AZ, I think this is great as it would allow both Texas teams that want the longer schedule to be in another division.

Should have put it in Reno.

If you've never been to Reno think: Retirement Home. With Slot Machines.

I spend alot of time in Sac, their new arena could use the dates for sure and the location would be perfect as mentioned above. Being so close to Stockton, SJ, Bakersfield, ect ect

Well....yes...but its also Geographically pretty much as far away from Vegas as you can get. Makes callups a bit of a bitch.

DAMN!

http://www.reviewjournal.com/sports/...vegas-nhl-team

Reno, which would make the most sense given its proximity to Las Vegas and a chance to keep the team’s hockey operation in-state, is out because the Reno Events Center doesn’t have the ability to make ice, according to operations manager Steve Markwell. Ditto for Sacramento, where the Golden 1 Center opens next month as the new home of the NBA Kings and was built with basketball, not hockey, in mind.

Living in Sac, I would LOVE to have pro hockey in town.

It's 2.5 hours from sac to SJ - 2 hours with no traffic and avg 75mph

Well they don't exactly need a farm system as soon as next season since their draft picks will likely be in major juniors or oversees for 2 years and their 22 of their 30 expansion picks are playing for Vegas. That leaves 8 players who need a home. Those 8 guys could easily be lent to another teams farm system for one year.

Summerlin....lots of Lamborghinis and Ferraris. I imagine most of the LV players will live there.

Pay my ex gf to move there. She has an "ice box" that will make all the ice you could ever need or want.

It would make the most sense for Vegas to go with the Chicago Wolves. They'd probably prefer to sign most of their own guys anyway. It's central, lots of direct flights to Vegas (and anywhere else in the NHL for that matter).

I've heard the Blues want to get out of there and go to Kansas City anyway.

Sounds like Fresno is still in the mix.

Sounds like the Blues are adding the 31st franchise to the AHL and placing it in Kansas City. Which would leave the Golden Knights with Chicago, unless the AHL decides to expand by 2 club and allow Chicago to be independant.

Do you think an independent AHL club could be competitive?

No chance, unless the five veterans the team dressed were truly exceptional.

You would need 13 developmental players playing every night who were unattached to any NHL organization. If they were any good, they'd get signed by another NHL team.
