Seems like a terrible idea to me. Last year nobody was interested. What makes a guy think he can make it back a year older on wrong side of the curve. Seems like he wants one last kick at the can but I can’t imagine anyone bothering.

Lakers with more missed free throws than Denver had attempts. Rigged.

NBA ratings are abysmal right now and with the NFL and CFB seasons likely to make those ratings worse, there's basically no chance the league is letting the Nuggets win this series under any circumstance.

I'm not suprised at ratings. The majority of online posters have been saying they don't care about fans and it's a non factor. But for me it's a killer. I can watch games with teams I care about and that's it. I wasn't sure how fanless games would feel, but it turns out I actually rely on fan atmosphere a lot to enjoy sports.
I'm so checked out from casual viewing of games with no atmosphere. This just doesn't feel like playoffs in the NHL and NBA and feel is all that matters since it's entertainment.

I think overall national ratings will always continue to be down. Other than NFL, the other 3 sports have become regional viewing. People are fans of teams only and not the sport itself. Most of us here have given up on the Stanley Cup Playoffs since the Flames got knocked out. You can be a fan of any team from anywhere. So it's oversaturation along with the 1,000 other things people can watch.
In the past, you couldn't watch Jordan's Bulls everyday. So when he got to the playoffs or finals, that was appointment viewing. Plus having no dynasty sucks as people were probably drawn into the Golden State Warriors the last few years. Today, people don't watch team sports for the 'event' anymore, unlike golf's US Open which is still an event regardless of who is playing.

For me, the fan factor is not that important but what really makes a difference for me is the commentary. If the commentary team is great, engaging, entertaining and informative it can get me to watch even the crappiest game. A poor crew will make me want to turn off the game even if it is a team that I care about.

Heh the Nuggets got the ref treatment this game, not quite enough to push them over the top. Refs have been ridiculous this series but if they stay out deciding the output I think Lakers will take this in five.

I'm shocked the Lakers won that game at the end. I was certain it was over with 2 seconds left.

Nuggets missed like 10 free throws, that hurt.

That's a heartbreaker and nail in the coffin for the Nuggets. Thay almost had it, too, but almost now way to win 4 of 5 against the Lakers.

We can't. The Nuggets have the Lakers right where they want them. The Nuggets are the kings of series comebacks right now. They won 3 in a row in the previous two series.
What a weird franchise, the Nuggets pulled a similar stunt in the 90s. They were down 2-0 to the heavily favoured Supersonics and then won 3 straight to win the best of 5. Next round, they go down 3-0 to the Jazz and then come back to tie the series before losing game 7. They are only the second team to do that.

The coverage he gets from the Chinese media is heavily slanted in his favor and it's interesting to see the contrast to North American media.
The latest headline from South China Morning Post: "Jeremy Lin chases NBA second chance but teams should be chasing him"
