Default Microsoft Edge

Never thought I'd say this, but Microsoft Edge is my new default browser, at least in an IT sense. The new version built on Chromium is very slick, loads faster and uses less resources than Chrome, handles Azure single-sign on way smoother, and automatically imports all of your favorites and extensions from Chrome. Best part is being able to sync to a Microsoft account (which every user in a Microsoft 365 environment already has) instead of trying to convince users to setup a Google account. Now their whole browser setup follows them wherever they go without the half-baked Chrome roaming profiles that I had setup before

I'm even going to start ditching Chrome and using Edge for my home machines, I really can't see any reason to use Chrome anymore unless you really need to sync to a Google account

I've ditched Chrome for all professional use and moved to Edge Chromium. The profile switching is just such a better system, especially working in tech and needing to access apps from numerous accounts. It's fast, secure, and probably the best browser for M365 given the company behind it.

Oh ya I totally forgot about the profile switching. Being able to switch between a work and personal account and instantly change your favorites and extensions loadouts with one click is amazing

I switched to Edge a couple weeks ago, haven't looked back. I suspect that Edge will begin to take up a larger marketshare in the upcoming months as people see how much better it performs than Chrome.

Chrome used to be light, nimble, just fast. Edge is what it used to be, but now

Hopefully this will get Google off their ass to try innovating in the browser market again, they've been too comfortable as the default choice for too long. The day that the new Edge is included as the default browser in Windows 10 will be when Chrome starts seeing serious usage drops I think

Does it work as well on a Mac?

I usually use different browsers to nicely seperate all my work stuff and personal stuff, and use Firefox for work stuff but I'd be willing to give Edge a try.

I just re-installed it out after reading this thread, and it's incredible how easy it was to set up and import everything over. After trying it for a while I definitely notice how much faster it is than Chrome. I'm a fan.

Edge is now on chromium's engine. So, no? I don't think so...

Bing is the default search site from the address bar, but it's easy to switch that to Google or any other search engine

I would think so, Microsoft has been really good at supporting other platforms lately. The office suite works great on a Mac, so I'm guessing Edge is no different

I'm still a Firefox fan for personal use since Mozilla is so comitted to user privacy and security, and there's a few extensions on it that aren't available on any other browser. But for anything work related or to seperate out profiles for different family members it's Edge now all the way. Edge will even create seperate desktop shortcuts for each profile so you never even have to worry about switching them

I've stumbled upon a thread praising a Microsoft product.

Whiskey. Tango. Foxtrot.

Are you people drunk or something?

This is truly a very messed up year.

It is really, really damned good. I do wish it had the same container functionality that Firefox does, but other than that I really can't complain.

I use it on Mac and like it. I use it for work and Chrome for personal but I thing I might ditch chrome altogether for a bit just to see how it goes.

Ok I’m putting Edge on a trial run across all my devices (Win, Android, iOS). The integrated Adblock plugin is what pushed me over the...edge...after a particularly heinous wrestling match with a clickbaity site on my phone this morning. Yes I know there’s other mobile browsers that do extensions, but I want to stay in either the google or MS space where most of my key services live.

Chrome extensions should work if I'm not mistaken. Install and adblocker and something like don't follow me.

Yup no problems with desktop Edge and extensions, it's the iOS and Android version with built in Adblock that I wanted to take advantage of. Mobile Chrome still doesn't have support for that, I think.
