I was a little wary about getting a festival pass this year because I'm pretty sure I'm gonna be low on funds when the end of June rolls around. But my god, this announcement pulled me right in. I regret missing EITS so much at Coachella last year, so stoked they're coming! Mac DeMarco was awesome when he opened up for Japandroids in December, so he's sure to put on a good show again. And I love Divine Fits and Metz, they'll be fun to see. Excited to check the rest of these bands out!

I genuinely hope people love this festival and it does well (Calgary needs this) BUT my concerns were correct - 2 poor 90's bands as headliners....
I had a quite a bit of hope for a good music festival and this is poor.
I even liked jon spencer BE for a while, '98 I think but they just burrowed up their own bottoms if I remember.
All they have to do is get quality headliners and people will watch the unknowns without complaint...

This festival was never about mainstream big acts. What would you like to see - Foo Fighters and Red Hot Chili Peppers? You want to stand in a crowded field with 50,000 people? Define "quality headliner".
Jesus and Mary Chain is a "poor 90's band"? Come on.
This festival is about Discovery - seeing the next big thing in small venues. Seeing great local talent. An annual highlight for me.
http://www.sledisland.com/about/the-story
On campus radio you might not play a band that everyone has heard of, but you will play something you think is worth listening to. This caters to a radio listener who is open minded and patient, but who also finds the greatest listening rewards and has the best ability to appreciate new things. Sled Island is programmed similarly- making the effort to walk the thin line between encouraging exploration, and inviting people in. We want you to have a reason to come down and to know that you will be familiar with some of what you experience. But we want you to find new things too. New bands, new venues, new friends.
Everyone who attends (even the programmers) has something new to see. This festival caters to people who aren't intimidated by not knowing something- it caters to those who are inspired by that.
The goal of Sled Island is not to exploit our audience, but to inspire them.

Hopefully they fix the comedy shows this year and not have them at that super small venue. They were the only shows I couldn't get into last year.

The Auburn Saloon was shut down this winter so it won't be there. These comics aren't as "hot" so I don't know if there'll be as much demand anyway.

Cool, I finally get to see OFF!
It's looking to be another stellar lineup. Too many good bands to see is definitely a nice problem to have.
