Default Oilers could finish last.... again.

With Columbus starting to surge (they have won 4 straight) they are only 7 points behind Edmonton at the moment, is it possible that Edmonton could suck enough to get the 1st overall pick again?

Seriously with that lineup they would HAVE to trade one of Hall/Eberle/RNH/Yakupov for defense.

I really hope they dont, and they go on a winning streak and draft out of the bottom 5 but still... Yeesh this team is bad.

The BJs are the Flame's best friend.

Couldn't ask for better help on the OOT scoreboard.

I'm not an oilers fan but they are going to draft high again this year and in the next few years will be a playoff team. Can we honestly say the flames have the same upswing? I hope so...

Only if the NHL bans the use of defencemen, goalies and forwards heavier than 200lbs.

Oilers win!!

I feel like this fits in here for some reason.

Apparently nothing to be "jealous" of.

I can really see the Oilers kicking our ass in about 6 years when they relocate to Houston.

Would be funny to see Tambellini sitting on losers row again, squirming in front of the TSN hockey crew. Then show a live shot of that bar with Hall and RNH celebrating with the locals on another job well done!

How many years can you finish in last before it's not deemed some sort of success?

How are the Oilers not considered the worst management group in the league?

I don't care if we can beat them I care if we can beat everyone else. I'm hoping tonight Sven shows some real potential and maybe we try to retool. The oilers are rebuilding And have committed to that. I'm not sure who or what the flames are at this point. Maybe once we shed some of sutters contracts we can sign and draft some impact players.

Has a team ever drafted first overall three years in a row? It takes a special kind of suckage to pull that off.

I for one want the Oilers to be a good team again if for no other reason than it seems to be what is necessary for the Flames to become a good team.

Karma went out the door when Matt Cooke got a Stanley cup ring.

Unless they can grab a big time Dman from FA I can't see them dramatically turning thigs around quick. Even if they draft a dman this year, they typically take 3-5 years to develop properly. That essentionally takes Hall and Eberle to FA. They might be able to keep them all but they could end up into a similar situation the Flames were a few years ago where they kept the core but in the later years found themselves in cap hell.

The trick will also be once they get out of drafting first overall, will the scouting staff be able to draft players that will help. As bad as Calgary has been with drafting the Oilers have been right there. In fact their poor drafting in the early 2000's is exactly why they are where they are now.

Good luck convincing anyone good UFA d men to go there. Well unless if they are greedy suckers and are over paid by $2-$3mill/year. Course if they are that greedy they prob won't put out much effort on the ice.
