Kent was magic, no doubt. And I really loved the first years of the Calgary Flames. I never met him, but some of the other guys were very accessible and always popping up at community events.
However, Theo was such an awesome flawed bigger than life character. He worked hard and wore his heart on his sleeve. Gritty, dirty and so effective/productive. It would have been better for him and the Flames if they never traded him. In some dark years he was reason enough to buy a ticket to a Flames game.

How is this even a poll? One was an absolute Flames legend and the other would always let us down but not the fn Oilers. Fleury all day every day. This is like asking who do associate with #12, Loob or Iginla.

Loob?

It’s great if you personally prefer Nilsson over Fleury, or Loob over Iginla. That’s personal preference obviously. But if you’re debating their impact and relevance to the franchise, it’s not even close by any reasonable measure.

"At one hundred and eighty pounds, I finished 11th out of 56 guys at camp in the fitness test and scored a historic shootout goal in an exhibition game after being out of hockey for six years," Fleury reportedly wrote. "What does that say about the talent level in the NHL? 4 points and a plus 4 rating in four exhibition games and I get cut. What a joke! Craig Conroy goes the first 37 games of the season with zero goals. I wonder how many I would have had?
Not in my heart!

Also, he wasn't wrong. Does that mean he didnt have to be a d**k about it? Probably. But that's what made Fleury great, his compete and DGAF attitude. The man earned it.

I get that he did a lot of great things for the Flames and in the minds of many that he's earned it. I have great respect for what he's done after his career and how he is using his trauma to help others. Takes a great and courageous person to rise above what happened to him.
However I just can't shake that lasting image of Theo trashing the Flames organization after Sutter was gracious in giving him a tryout. That in part is why I voted Nilsson
It's personal for everyone here and I'm glad we're allowed to have an opinion on the subject

Nilsson was our 'superstar' when the Flames first arrived, but he played for the Oilers in 1987. How can this even be a debate?
I don’t think it really is a debate or ever had a chance of being a real one. Fleury was a bigger part of the Flames than Nilsson ever was. When you think of #14, you think of Fleury. The older crowd might think of Nilsson too, but Fleury was THE #14. When people talk about retiring #14, nobody is talking about Nilsson.
What did surprise me was OP thinking it would be closer to 50/50. I would’ve assumed Fleury would garner 90+%
