I'm going to say Jacob Trouba is going to be a flop in NYC. He doesn't have near the same team support to make him look good as he did in Winnipeg, and while he's a good player, he's not an amazing player. I get the sense he will be exposed a little on a bad team.

Iginla missed the first 3 games of the season in 1999 and went on to set new career highs in goals and points.
So it's only been 20 years since an example I can think of off my head.

Interesting note that Iginla attended training camp that year regardless, so you'd have to go back further.

Iginla paid his own insurance that year, right?
What a different time that was. I cannot even imagine an unsigned player attending Training Camp in today’s NHL.

Doubtful. He signed a pretty sweet contract in Columbus and didn't mail it in.
Floridian rivalry games are going to be must see TV this year.

I think Gary Leeman is going to have a hard time replicating that 50 goal season.

Penguins will miss the playoffs
Drasaitl will play more minutes than ever away from McDavid won't get 70 points
Rangers will be bottom 5 in league despite additions
Binnington will have bad year blues miss playoffs
Duchene will struggle in Nashville. 50 points or less

Pretty common for a guy in his 2nd year to have a tougher go. Teams now know you are the go to guy and have learned tendencies ect.

He'll get checked tighter this year, and garner a lot more attention. And he won't surprise anyone.
Also, if Boeser misses part or all of camp and gets off to a slow start, that could hurt Pettersson as well.
I think it's a reasonable bet that he has a bit of a tougher sophomore season.

It's definitely an expectation.
Elias Pettersson's production declined slightly in each of the first three successive quarters of the NHL season last year, and then plummeted in the last one:
5 Oct–15 Nov: 5G 17 Pts in 15 GP
16 Nov–31 Dec: 9G 22 Pts in 21 GP
1 Jan–25 Feb: 7G 17Pts in 16 GP
26 Feb–6 Apr: 2G 10 Pts in 19 GP

Pettersson is a pretty good candidate for a sophomore slump, because of how hot he started last year and the potential that Boeser won't be there. But I don't think I'd bet on it, certainly not ahead of a lot of other players.
Hayes is obviously a good contender not to live up to his deal, but if he just does what he's always done can you really call that "flopping"? They just overpaid. Same for Myers.
The best candidates for flops are generally the guys who have been recovering from injury over the summer, the people who hold out until the season starts, and the people who change teams (that can go either way). A bunch of those have been mentioned. Duchene is a decent bet, given Nashville's history with skill players.
I'll go the other way - the best candidate for a breakout season, for me, is Timo Meier.

McDavid. He won’t break 70 points in a Tippett system.

Norm!

Draisaitl, his shooting percentage will drop through the floor and he'll be choked out under Tippet who the Oilers will turn on by game 50

I don't know , has any coach ever gotten the pretty boys of the team to work on their defensive game and not just go for points and stats ? wasn't that one of Todd M's public complaint?
