Default Error 0x800703ee

Does anybody know about this error 0x800703ee? I get it when I insert a micro SD card into a USB SD card reader and try to copy files to it. I'm trying to copy a file over (over 2 GB) and it starts copying...then stops and gives this error. Google is absolutely useless in determining what is wrong and most websites seem to be a bunch of spyware software installs it tells you to do.

I never have any other issues with any other USB device being plugged in. I have 3 different SD card readers, a bunch of different brands of micro SD cards, and still the same error. I've formatted, uninstalled and reinstalled drivers. Tried every trick in the book. Still the same error. Maybe after an hour of trying it sometimes works. But it's super frustrating.

Any ideas? Using Windows 10

I think that error is caused by a corrupt system file on your computer that fires off when your trying do your copying

I got this error once, I went and did a system restore to an earlier date and it seemed to fix it.

Microsoft points to a bad USB driver. Their fix is below

i, Method 1: Disable Antivirus
Temporarily Disable Antivirus Software and Firewall on the computer and then proceed with performing the backup.
http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/w...virus-software
Note: Make sure you turn-on the antivirus software and Windows Firewall later so that the computer is protected.
Method 2: Remove and reinstall all USB controllers
To remove and reinstall all USB controllers, follow these steps:
1. Click Start, click Run, type sysdm.cpl in the Open box, and then click OK.
2. Click the Hardware tab.
3. Click the Device Manager Button.
4. Expand Universal Serial Bus controllers.
5. Right-click every device under the Universal Serial Bus controllers node, and then click Uninstall to remove them one at a time.
6. Restart the computer, and then reinstall the USB controllers. Using latest version from the motherboard manufactures website
7. Plug in the removable USB storage device, and then test to make sure that the issue is resolved.

Method 3: Turn on the Services
Please be ensure that the services that “Volume shadow copy” and the “Windows Backup service” is turned on and set to Automatic in Services Window.
How to go to Services Window?
a) Click on Start
b) Type “Services” and hit Enter.
Hope this information helps.

Any chance the card is formatted as FAT instead of FAT32 or NTFS?

I also have issues with those microsd to usb adapaters. Maybe try a regular sd carrier instead? Assuming that you have an sd card reader in your computer.

What happens if you format the card to FAT32 and try copying files again?

I think I recall something like this happening with lower quality cards or corrupted sectors on the cards. I think there's been a huge wave of fake SD/MicroSD cards with funky formatting and questionable durability lately. Especially in 32GB and below.

A questionable SD card adapter should just show up as a flickering SD card (connect/disconnect), I don't seem to recall situations where it threw out an error code unless you were trying to read corrupted sectors.

Thanks for the responses. I've tried formatting it in multiple ways. Fat32, NTFS. All the same.

But I think it comes down to a questionable quality SD card reader. As DoubleF said, it often cuts in and out. Sometimes throws me the error code. About 10% of the time it actually works.

I guess I'll splurge and get brand name reader. Deep down in my heart I figured that was the issue. I cheaped out on the card reader when Amazon had a sale.

Did you try to reload your drivers?
