Default Embedding a YouTube link?

After trying for longer than I’d care to admit, I still can’t embed a YouTube link! No matter what I do I either get just the link in my post or a black YouTube screen that says an error has occurred. Can somebody please let me know how to do this before I smash my phone into a thousand tiny pieces? Thanks!

I think you had it right, you were just missing all of the characters of the video. I assume this is what you were trying to embed in the testing area:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_4REDNiEPso

There's an underscore at the beginning of the video identifier which needs to be included.

So you should post:

Which will end up doing:

Wow, it’s finally working today! Thanks for taking the time to help. For some reason it wouldn’t work yesterday but now it’s fine… at least my phone is still in one piece!

I always have this same issue.

Copy you tube url

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3moREAbLl-I

Highlight and click "embed you tube tags around selected text"

And it inevitably leads to black you tube screen that yields error message when clicked

You don't want the whole URL, you just want the string that the "v=" is set to.

So you should end up with BBCode that looks like:
