Shared the stage with him a few times he was a very heads up blues player IMO. Tough news for sure.

Wonder what direction the Flames will go in. Modern prerecorded stuff or old school organ.

GOAT!

I don't know where the organ is setup at the Dome, like if it's in a room or just out in the open... but something needs to have his name on it imo. The Willy Joosen Music Room, etc.

It’s close to the red zone or whatever they call it, at the top, which has the MC/host for the evening, I believe. Decently in the open

It’s in the Red Corner at the top of the second level. They could rename it Willy Joosen’s red corner.

Warren Tse, who's the organist for Hitmen games, would fill in for Joosen on occasion.

Every time I think of the Hyrule and Terminator 2 themes I'll always remember him fondly. RIP.

My favorite was the slide down the keys he would do every time a puck went over the glass. Simple but a dome staple
Sad news

A sad day for the Flames community. It's going to feel different not hearing music from Willy during the game.

Really is a big loss for the Flames and Saddledome experience. Something that will never be quite the same and the unique stylings of Joosen will be missed.
Sad indeed.

the job for new organist has been posted:
https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/calga...y2kpsMIvQeg2Jc
here's the fun part, I've been told by a reliable source that they are offering a whopping $100 per game for this gig. factor in practice time, travel, etc. and the fact that you have to be a very experienced musician with excellent improvisation skills, this sounds like a bum deal.
the Flames have handed out like 9 digits worth of contract money this summer, but are basically tossing loonies at the role that's a memorable part of the fan experience. I really hope this was nothing close to what Willy was making because that's a goddamn travesty.

Someone will have some really big shoes to fill. When they find the right candidate I hope they don't neuter him like they did Willy.
He only had permission to play certain tunes and Willy had big time talent to blow the roof off the dome.
