Flames Arbitrator awards Kulak 1yr $900k 1 way

https://www.nhl.com/flames/news/flam...?tid=282300716

no mention of 2 way or not

but right in the middle of the two asks.

Flames don't have walkaway rights so Kulak is signed.

update:

one way

Wes Gilbertson @WesGilbertson
Arbitrator has ruled on #Flames D Brett Kulak — a one-year deal worth US$900,000. It’s a one-way contract.

God, you're fast.

You must not be Brett Kulak's arbitrator.

So, dependent on the actual make up of the team, there's roughly 4.5-4.7M left for Hanifin and breathing room.

Yep, totally fair too. Good deal for the club, honestly, for a guy who is basically the quintessential #7.

It took 48 hours to add x+y and divide by 2? The NHL needs to spring for better calculators for the arbitrators.

Obviously half the year two-way and half the year one way or maybe the whole year 1.5 way?

bad news for Kulak

He's now $6K more expensive than Valimaki and $170K more expensive than Kylington.

Hate to start this debate again, but that's agent fail in my mind.

I was actually thinking the same thing. Theres guys knocking on the door for his spot and he made himself more expensive and less flexible than them.

Sure smells like the flames need to make a trade to get some cap space and roster space at forward. Or perhaps they buyout Brouwer.

There has to be another move still though... right?
