Icon48 Waiver wire Sept 25

everyone on waivers yesterday cleared.

Still waiting on the full list, but the Canadiens they have announced they have waived Hunter Shinkaruk, Michael McCarron, Byron Froese, Rinat Valiev, Brett Lernout

update:
The Sens have also placed Zach Smith on waivers. Smith was often linked to the Flames in trade rumors in recent years, but doubtful anyone claims his contract without sending one back.

3 yrs @ $3.25 mil AAV

Thankfully I think that ship sailed with the signing of Derek Ryan...at least I hope.

You couldn't fit his contract on this team if you wanted to.

Note that Smith is on waivers but if he clears will not be sent down. I guess they can’t get a penny for the guy

Most likely this is one of the cases of Ottawa kicking tires on the interest for Smith and then they will trade him for another bad contract that's cheaper in real dollars. They could always trade him for Hossa or Zetterberg

I think Smith is actually getting kind of underrated here but god no at that contract. He'd be great at like a million

Don't think there's cap space to take him anyways.

Or with less term. At 1 year left whatever, it's not getting in the way or re-signing someone. He's definitely getting underrated a tad but yeah on his current contract that's a big no thank you

I know you are joking, but he would probably be taking Dube's spot. That will trigger the Dube contingent.

I wonder how quickly Treliving put the claim in on McCarron. He is one more player for his 2013 1st round collection.

Not at all surprised his teammates are ticked. A really good guy who is well respected and liked within the organisation.

Thankfully Bryan Murray was in Zack's corner.

Really? Guy is getting paid a ton of money, and dont forget, once he clears waivers hes exempt from Escrow so hes actually getting a pretty nice raise, and on top of all of it he gets the hell away from the Senators organization for whom Kevin Lowe is still holding Pierre Dorion's beer and chuckling to himself like an idiot.

I've heard good things about Shinkaruk. Never seen him play but Flames should put a claim in.

He won't be sent down.

Smith has had an enigmatic career. I actually think it's fairly likely he rebounds to 10-15 goals next year. He has some serious peaks and troughs in his production.
