At this point, Smith isn't even trying to hide the shamelessness of her green line funding cancellation being purely politically motivated. So convenient she gets to call out Nenshi everytime. Now all of a sudden she's defending Gondek and saying oh it's not your fault, it's all the previous mayor's fault.

Advocates are raising concerns about the long wait times Alberta kids with disabilities are facing to access essential services. They believe the delays could impact hundreds across the province.

“We need to reduce the waitlist. These kids can’t wait two to three years for a contract. When kids need help they need help now,” said Keltie Marshall, co-founder of Hold My Hands Alberta.
Well that doesn't sound great. I wonder what our government is doing to improve that?

Quote:
The Ministry of Seniors, Community and Social Services acknowledged that there are staff cuts in the program, saying “Seven temporary contracted disability services workers were notified that their contracts will not be extended once they expire.’ in a statement to citynews, the ministry said “The program funding has not changed and the end of these contracts will not affect families’ ability to access services.”

Oh...cutting staffing and gaslighting. Good stuff. #### the disabled kids, they should pull up their bootstraps.

Absolutely. The main motivation is to try and hang this boondoggle around Nenshi's neck, and it won't stop until after the next election - if ever.

I loath it when government spends their time in power campaigning for the next election.

The worst part is she is also campaigning for her annual employee review, judged by the dumbest collection of meatballs ever gathered in a political room. Which means she's catering to them, not us.

As usual, Gondek is guilty of some spin here, too (but certainly not as much)
Not seeing where the spin is.

Glad to see the mayor and Carra come out swinging on the green line.

It’s terrifying every time these guys plan an announcement like this. What group are they going after this time?

Did anyone see her big announcement?
All I heard was in a text from a friend, some rather unsavory language he used if Im honest about. But what I did glean is 'immediate help for schools' 3 years away. Money for charter schools aka 'homeschoolin hillbiillies' (thats where I cleaned up some language) and not a word about teachers.

The Charters in Calgary offer some very reasonable options.

The biggest problem with charters is they cherry pick cheap students. Solid academically, no coding, good parents. This increases costs per capita on the public systems.

$8.6B in spending on new schools and modernization over the next three years.

I fully expect to be underwhelmed with their concept of a plan.

Why #### all over a positive announcement for much needed new schools and student spaces? I know the UCP is a punching bag for you but a big investment in schools is worth giving a thumbs up to instead of just being an ass.
