Flames Potential Trade Partners 2024

Here are Teams projected to reach 95 points at their current pace (minimum required for playoffs):
Vancouver
Florida
Winnipeg
Boston
Dallas*
New York Rangers*
Carolina*
Edmonton*
Colorado*
Vegas*
Toronto*
Los Angeles*
Tampa Bay
Philadelphia*

I put asterisks next to teams that have a 2024 1st round pick available (*)

Out of all these teams, which ones do you think would be suitable trade partners for the Calgary Flames (ie. Chris Tanev, Noah Hanifin and maybe Jakob Markstrom)?

You should probably remove the trade tag on this post.
I know that's the tag I've been waiting for the past few days. It's a good topic to discuss though!

Tanev to whoever gives up a 1st (I think Toronto is most likely to cave, maybe Dallas)
Markstrom to NJ (just makes too much sense)
Hanifin ... no idea, really. I could see Boston, Tampa or Florida, but since all of them lack both picks and a deep prospect pool, it'd be difficult.

Florida or Tampa can part with a good, young roster talent to compensate for having little draft capital.

For example, Lundell would be a fine substitute for a 1st, and wouldn't hamper the Panthers offense for their upcoming run (virtually the same output as hanifin on the year)

The Devils and Wings are missing from the OP, both teams can still make it into the POs and can trade for both Hanifin and Tanev without retention. Hamilton is expected to be out of action until the end of the season, which really opens the Devils options for rentals.

Hanifin/Tanev Trade Partners:
  • the Devils have already been discussed to death on this forum
  • Lightning are completely decimated on D and have a couple good/interesting prospects to trade for a Tanev rental (Howard, Gauthier, and Huuhtanen)
  • Vegas has a thin prospect pool, but if no one else is willing to offer anything of value for Hanifin, they could put together a decent rental package that doesn't require the Flames to take on salary (besides retention). Something like a 1st + Hague + Sapovaliv
  • Wings have an embarrassment of riches for defensive prospects, and a few good forward prospects (Danielson, Kasper, Dower-Nilsson, and Buchkelnikov). At some point, Yzerman needs to assemble a complete enough roster to make the playoffs...
  • Dallas can put together a decent rental package for Hanifin, but would need maximum retention. Something like a 1st + Bourque + Bichsel might be interesting

Markstrom Trade Partners:
  • Kings can put together a decent Markstrom package, but would need maximum retention and a small amount of salary returning to the Flames. Something like a 1st + Spence + Zimmer + Turcotte might be interesting.
  • Wings and Devils both need a goalie. See note from above
