This is where you should stop reading.

I was down there a few weeks ago for work and was sick of the same food. I found this place on line. When I went in I told the bartender to order whatever pizza she like on the menu and pair it with a beer.

She picked that pizza with the Whistler grapefruit ale.

She was good at her job.

I was going to suggest Jiayuan Dumpling House in downtown but just found out they closed down. Crazy. Their dumplings were so delicious and they were so busy the last time I was there. If a place like that fails, what chance do most restaurants have?

I don't know the differences, but Taber and Lethbridge made gravy differently than all the rest of the coporation controlled stores. Apparently not the case anymore. The gravy, while similar, is not as good now as it was back when I worked there. I don't know how it is made/prepared now.

I'm a fan of Coulee Brewing
http://couleebrew.co/

Pretty good food and craft beer. We've taken my friend's 10 year old there, but that's also during the day.

That's because the Kerr's owned a lot of the southern Alberta KFC's.

Mocha Cobana is awesome......there’s a pub around the corner from there which is quite good as well.....don’t know the name but it’s always packed and people are always eating so I think that’s a promising sign.

Oh yeah... I couldn't think of the name earlier, but I liked Coulee Brewing, as well. I enjoyed their deep fried pickles. Another shout out for Mocha Cobana. Good local restaurant.

A lot? I only remember KFC being in Pincher Creek and Crowsnest Pass. Where else? The KFC's in Lethbridge and Taber weren't owned by them.

Not in Lethbridge, but worth a try on the way to Lethbridge from Calgary.

I recall they owned at least four or five in Southern Alberta. Pretty sure Taber was one of them.

Thanks for all the reply’s. I guess we’re going to Two Guys. Bahn Mi Pizza really piqued his interest, and since he’s gotta live there now, it’s up to him. It seems the most casual after driving and moving him in after a long day. Their prices seem really reasonable too.

For me they seem to have a really kick ass Beer selection. Helps to drown the sorrows of my 1st born leaving home. Good thing I don’t have to drive home.

Unless Kerrs sold Taber to the current owners, it has been owned by the current owners since at least the early 80s.

The Japanese Gardens.

I mean, they dont sell food there, but if you get takeout its a beautiful place to have a picnic on a nice day.

Dont forget, if you're in town at the time to check out 'Whoop-Up Days.'

You can always take a trip to Fort Whoop-Up, voted the world's most ridiculous and least intimidating name for a military base for 27 years running!

When you're in Lethbridge please feel free to 'Whoop it up!'

yeah you've made a good call. spend a fair amount of time in LB for work and would definitely say especially after a long drive and a move , what is better than beer and pizza- and this place is better than most on both fronts

also do like Mocha Cabana, and found Lighthouse to be fine for sushi- both previously suggested

There is a place called Wooden Shoe that makes a good schnitzel and Kroket. It is a European/Danish grocery store with a deli and food counter. It isn't too far from the University if I remember correctly.

I thought it was on the other side of the river. So I looked it up and Wooden Shoe know it, it is on the other side of the river from the University.

It's been about 10 years since I've been there but the best place to eat in Lethbridge was Miro Bistro and it wasn't even close when I was there. Good food, cozy vibe and you'll probably meet Miro if it's still open which it seems to be - he liked to come out and chat with the guests, his pride in his cooking is off the charts and he was a great guy. It was one of the only unique places in Lethbridge for a nice dinner out.

https://mirobistro.ca/

There was a place in the water tower that was kind of novel, going for the earls/keg/moxies vibe. Food was just OK... more of a novelty kind of place at the time.

Also a restaurant in the fire hall downtown that was better than the water tower but not as good as Miro's but I can't find any mention of it online, maybe it closed.
