If they both win the next round, they will play each other in the Semis.

I love listening to Donovan Bailey break down the technicalities of sprinting

Who was the Dutch girl in the hurdles? She looks like Rey from Star Wars (Rey would have won)

She likely gets given a spot in the semi final anyway, as the trip wasn't her fault. But still, a very cool story.

Cagey first half! Evenly matched. Both teams press is causing lots of turnovers from the defenders but no real chances either way.
Gilles has Alex Morgan in her pocket. Prince for my money is the best player on the pitch, she’s all over the place!

Did I just hear that there hasn't been a single shot on goal by either side this whole half?
Oh soccer....

I'll never understand how soccer is the most popular sport in the world.
At the same time, I can't take my eyes off the TV.
Let's go ladies

Because it is very inexpensive to play and the vast majority of the world is dirt poor.

That part I understand, but that doesn't answer why it's so popular from a viewing standpoint. Fun and cheap to play, but a snooze-fest to watch for the most part (just my opinion).
Soccer was the only sport I played growing up, yet it's the only major sport I truly don't care to watch aside from the Olympics.
Then again, it's only the 5th most popular sport in North America, the least of the major sports, while it's really the only major sport outside of North America, so it makes a lot more sense from that standpoint.

Basketball and Rugby are two other very global sports. Both of them are VASTLY more entertaining than soccer.
As for why it is popular - I mostly chock that up to people in other parts of the world really not knowing any better and momentum.
