really a pretty nice result for Andre. Out of Rio of course easy to have seen him as the gold medal heir apparent, but in the last five years with injuries and covid alot has happened- he would have come in as a medal contender , not a gold medal favorite
getting lane 9 (and having the guy in lane 8 pull up half way through) meant he was really running out on his own. Kerley and Jacobs were definitely impressive all through the rounds, the 3 medalists are the 3 my wife and I had circled going in as the 3 to beat
Bromell is evidence of what a worst case scenario looks like, so Andre grabbing a bronze (and still in the mix for more medals) is all right. 4 medals now , outside chance at 6. with all the talk of Penny taking down Klassen and Hughes- what is the male record (esp Summer) for Canada?

changed about 10 years ago. its certainly more in the spotlight now with the sensitive start equipment- its a harsh rule but at least that was a 'real' false start in that final.

Great race for Andre...especially after the semi finals run, which wasn't his best.
To have a PB and a bronze medal is really amazing, especially with some of the injury troubles he's had of late

So he seems a little like Bailey. Not a great starter but has a great top speed.

unless I missed it not much discussion about the mens 800s- unfortunately Arop who paced his semi through about 600m didn't have it in him- still learning at this level I'd guess
then a major collision between Amos and the American- both went down and showed great sportsmanship to eventually cross the line- my view of it was the American tripped on his own foot and took down Amos- the officials seem to agree as Amos has been granted a pass to the final. of course not all on social media are viewing it the same way

In the swimming relay, do the ladies who were swimming in the preliminaries get the medal also? Seems like that would be the fair way to do things?

Yes they do but don't get to be on the podium.

Van Koeverden? He has 4 medals, 1 G, 2 S, 1 B.
Just did a bit of digging: A guy named Phil Edwards has 5 Bronze medals in various 400, 800, and 1500 m races in 1928, 1932, and 1936. Also Victor Davis won 1 gold and 3 silvers swimming in '84 and '88.
