We don't live 2.5 hrs drive from Toronto, plus less Leafs fans residing in this city (in comparison). Only one insufferable meeting a year vs the Leafs. Leafs didn't lottery ball their way into this.

Hate of the Oilers and no SCF for them since '90 >>>>>>. Leafs *barf* finally win a cup

There could be more Leaf fans in Calgary. So many people here from Ontario.

I don't know about that not lottery balling their way into this.. They did get Matthew's at number 1 and the rest are either former 1st or top ten picks . Marner at 4 , Nylander at 8 , Larrson at 6th overall, number 1 overall.

I realize not all these picks are Torontos' own but the teams that can attract top picks from any time in multiples seem to have success. Usually starts with their own top picks and other top picks joing later to want to win a cup. Calgary was right there in that trend till there own top picks decided to leave . And that's kinda why Calgary since the 80's boom we can't get top elite talent going to join our drated talent.

For some reason we can't squeeze that type of hype in Calgary to follow that trend. I blame ownership and how it's ran. Nylander was chosen 4 picks after Bennett and dri was chosen a pick before Sam. I remember that 2014 season we mocked the Oilers for sending Draisaitl back and Sam stayed up.

I am drunk now but my point is there is just something Calgary does as an organization that can't keep top talent here long term and it's frustrating . Edmonton can , Winnipeg can to a lesser extent even the Senators can get 7 to 8 years done. Outside coranato this year , Jonathan huberdeau and MacKenzie weeger is all 3 of there home towns were small.

From what I can tell from limited comparison where top picks stay/ want to be is the comparison to where they grew up vs the culture of a specific area. Example leon draisaitl would choose Edmonton because it actually compares very well to cologne. Similar size similar arts and culture science. Pain me to type that but I'm a man that can see facts . Is Calgarys drafting problems ( when I saw problems I mean retention not skill) based on tone not talent? Like 1 other example is Sam Bennett from Holland landing to his home rinks is similar to.sunrise to the panther rink is similar in area. Drafted to clagary is a pretty big culture shock and more time to drive area to area . Started flourishing in Flordia amid similar conditions growing up. Just a train of thought.

Leafs winning this series is a major win for the Flames at the upcoming draft...22nd overall would be nice. The Leafs can choke next round.
As for the Oilers I hope they never win another game in franchise history, like these things are not romotely similar.

He's definitely still injured. He had the mystery injury early in the season, missed a ton of time because of it and even flew to Europe to get an expert to look at it.

If the Oilers winning a round made a hypothetical pick we had be 17, vs 29-32, I would take the Oilers loss every single day

Born and raised in Calgary, in the early 80s, gotta hate the leafs.

Who cares about a 22 vs whatever the pick ends up being. Watching the oilers , Canucks and leafs fail every season has been way more satisfying than whatever success the flames have mustered over 30 years.

Go anyone but Edmonton, Vancouver, Toronto!

But I hate the Leafs, and I think the Panthers have the best chance of any east team to take out the grease if they meet in the finals.

Can’t imagine cheering for the Leafs due to a few draft positions in the 20s.

They’re going to have a list of multiple players of relatively equal ranking that they’re going to get one of either way.

Might need Florida to stick around so they can beat Edmonton. They know how to do it. Hell with the Leafs or the 22 pick. We’re getting Ryabkin anyway. He’ll be there at 32.

Meh.
I don't mind the Leafs. Nylander is a great player with a cool personality, Marner is fantastic and then its hard not to root for Tanev.

I still like Tanev. Gets absolutely railed into the boards from behind, but gets the puck out and sets up the rush for a goal.
