For a quick fix Costco poutine can get the job done quite admirably.

I miss chipwagons in Kingston, but even more I miss Bubba's poutine on Princess Street in Kingston. Nothing will ever compare to that oversized styrofoam tub in my drunken hand at 2am on a Thursday morning in the dead of winter. Oh university, how I miss thee.

I usually just get the gravy and cheese curds from A Taste of Quebec at the Farmer's Market and make my own - it doesn't take long.

Cafe Metro on Macleod used to be good, but they closed down a while ago. Not sure if they moved somewhere else, or just packed up. Best smoked meat in town, and their poutine and sugar pies were excellent too.
As for right now, Alberta King of Subs is the best. Although, I haven't tried that District place yet.

Bob, I know you live down south, but if you want your wife's American cousin to try poutine, you have to take them to Alberta King of Subs and at least let them try some authentic poutine first. Or even go all out and try the poutine at the District. I haven't tried the district, but it looks damn good! Just don't take them to fast food joints like KFC, A&W or BK (even though I like BK's) before trying real poutine.

Just tried NY Fries poutine and it was quite disappointing. Not a lot of flavor at all.

Really? Of all the fast-food joints they are my favorite, they have the best gravy by far IMO, which is the most important part.
Where is this "District" place, I think I need to check it out.
I saw what looked to be a poutine at some sheesha bar I went to last weekend and it looked really good (might have just been fries and gravy). I'll try it this weekend.

I find NYF gravy to vary greatly. Lots of times it's too bland. I've even gotten it runny. I dunno how they make it but you'd figure the drones would know how much water to add to the powder.

Why does everyone need to go out for poutine? It's only 3 ingredients.

Harvey's poutine isn't too bad for fast food. Best drive through poutine in Calgary I think. I also find new york fries never put enough gravy on it, but if they make it right its good.

It's my opinion that fast food establishments shouldn't really qualify for a "best of" thread.
Frozen french fries, processed cheese, powdered gravy... these are not a few of my favourite things.

Where do you buy good curds???
People who think Poutine is fries, gravy, and cheese are...well...not eating the right thing.

The only place I know of for good curds is A Taste of Quebec at the Farmer's Market.

The Safeway in Kensington has curds, I'm sure it's not the only one.
