How did you have a tail wind going north? I had a tailwind going south!

I bought one of these at MEC:
https://www.mec.ca/en/product/5052-8...-Disc-O-Select
As the reviews say, sometimes had to find the right spoke to install on. It clips to one spoke and then you have to wedge it between two more.

I didn’t find it too bad. The gusts weren’t as bad as some in the last couple of weeks. Had a nice frost beard when I got home.

ALL ABOARD!

This weather makes me want to try a fat bike. I think I said that last year as well.
Any places rent them?

Canmore Nordic Centre if you are out that way. I've been tempted too, maybe over Christmas I'll find time.

I'll probably do the same. If you're going to ride one, out there is probably the best spot.

K - There is phatbikes for phatguys on 57th, then there is get me a fattie - that is on 56th and of course there is phatchance - that is also on 56th. In fact all these places are in the phat bike district
anyways, here is an article that suggests some places you can possibly rent a rig: https://www.avenuecalgary.com/things...the-mountains/
as a fat bike owner, i'd suggest bypassing the rental, and going straight to the buying phase, you will not regret it and one more bike will get you clsoer tot eh optimal number of bikes that you need to own.
I was kicking myself last night for getting sidetracked and not going for a spin - as it was flawless when i was shovelling. Fat biking is awesome when it is snowing like ti was last night - there is something surreal about being out there in that weather

I got the city of Calgary travel log survey, just doing the setup and one of the questions is:
"How many bicycles does your household own?"
0
1
2
3
4
5 or more
I'm a little sad it only goes up to 5.
Then
"How many of your household’s bicycles have been used in the last 12 months?"
All of them!

My commuter is 21 years old, my road bike is 23 years old and my mountain bike is a sprightly 7 years old! Like I said, I like to buy things that last, and I know how to fix them!
I couldn't quite convince my wife to go quite as vintage, but I think her commuter must be 18 years old, and she is still on her first road bike and her mountain bike must be at least 12 years old now.
I didn't say you had to live with nothing, just spend smart!

No worries, just poking fun, I’m definitely not against bike +1.
I love the older bikes too. Until I finally bought a new one this summer, I was still riding the one I got as a teen in the mid 90s...used off of the Bargain Finder.

I suppose one way to decrease wear and tear on a bike is to cycle through 5 of them

i have three bikes (mtn/trail bike, commuter and a fattie) but they all serve a different purpose.
i would not mind getting a roadie, but i'd be more likely to get a new commuter first

Over the construction season, the City of Calgary added one-and-a-half kilometres of protected cycling infrastructure to the downtown network — bringing the entire network up to nine kilometres with more to come next year.

I rarely drive 12th avenue, so anyone want to say what it is like with the lane changes that have been made now?
Quote:
The main changes came on 12 Avenue, with some changes to the design.
Kim Fisher, Active Transportation Education Planner with the city, said they had to take out the so-called "jogs."
"That reduced the amount of times people had to change lanes where they were travelling eastbound," Fisher said. "So we made improvements for people driving for that phase one of the project."

Oh he knows, and probably had everything explained to him like you would to a 4 year old. But he needs to bleat about it on social media to keep his base riled up.
