Tried out the Lime bikes on Saturday evening. Super easy to use with the app, and I quite like the e-assist for cruising around and not breaking a sweat. It is pricey though, will be interesting to see how the Canadian bike sharing company coming in the spring prices out versus them. Over the course of the weekend saw quite a few people using them, and none of us were wearing helmets.

Took one from my friends place in Victoria park to my place in Hillhurst. Was cheaper than a Car2go, taxi, and uber. Maybe a little bit more time. But more expensive than the train, but also faster than the train. I do like the little bit of exercise though.
I'll probably use it again when it makes sense. But its not exactly the cheapest thing out there.
Switched to flat pedals for today. I think I'm done with that experiment. Felt slow as hell and it translated in my riding time. Feet weren't any warmer in hiking boots.

bought these at the bow cycle customer appreciation night back in october. love love love love htat I can ride spd or have actual pegged flats
Also pretty happy with myself for forcing myself to ride through the snow/cold this week. once I get used to it I'm generally ok. its just that first push that sucks.

^ how do you find it to flip those pedals over when you are wearing your spuds? i know i someimtes have those morings where i seemingly have a lot of trouble clipping in and i have two sided peadls.
i have embraced flats for my mtn bike and my fat bike and could never see switching.

I switch to flats in winter becuase my feet are always cold, and no way would bike shoes get me down to -25. It also feels safer in the big snow days or ice where I can get my feet down if the bike goes on me. It happens so quickly some times I feel like I wouldn't have time to unclip, and I've been riding spd's for 25 years.
I had an incident last year where I had to eject rearward, which would have been impossible clipped in. I guess I just feel a bit more comfortable on those really sketchy days. Plus cold feet!

I have the Shimano A530 pedals on one of my road bikes, which look really similar to the EH500 pedals posted above. I like the flats as I can go to the gym, office, or restaurant and can wear normal shoes. The only thing I don't like is they are for SPD cleats, so I have one pair of shoes I use just for these pedals. The rest of my pedals and shoes are SPD SL, which is my preference.

Heading SE, it's good to have the wind at my back this time of year. Just had the studded tires put on, so I'll see how much that slows me down. Also brought my hockey elbow pads- just in case.
