Default Matter 1.0 arrives - standardizing the Internet Of Things

Lots of automation, home security, smart bulb type threads. Maybe this release warrants a thread of its own.
Long awaited Matter 1.0 and certification program has been released. This should help all of us wade through choices in home automation/security. I would expect anything that can't be updated to comply with Matter standard will be instantly obsolete, including most of the bargain basement stuff I have.

If you have no interest in self managing a home security system and/or smart home automation, it does not.

Hasn't every big player signed on to it? This is basically beta vs vhs or bluray vs hd dvd. Smaller players have no choice but to support it because Apple, Amazon, Samsung and Google are using it.
