oh, and why haven't we benched Wideman for a game or two as yet?!

Because if you bench Wideman, the bottom pairing is Smid / Engelland and that's terrifying.

Somewhere deep in the rulebooks, a little known rule is dug up, allowing a team to be deducted half a goal from their total. During a timeout in the third period, Hartley challenges the refs, stating that the Lightning should get this deduction, and wins the challenge.

Flames win this one:
Flames 0
Lightning -1/2.

Agreed. For the flames to be successful, wideman must be in the top 6. the benching serves a different purpose, and more long term purpose, than simply improving the pairings for that particular game or 2.

Gio with a big night... Goal, assist, +3. Monahan continues to heat up... 2 goals. Flames win 5-3.

At this point Engelland is looking more stable than Wideman is. At least Engelland isn't hurting the team with bad turnovers.

I think Smid draws in to be showcased. Guy is ready to play and I'm sure he's asked if he's not going to play here, trade him to a place where he has a better chance to play.

I hope not. Have him sitting on my fantasy team. He's absolutely killing my team when he's on.

Flames are 5-10-1 when I watch them this year. I don't know what to do!

TB is struggling to score goals. Flames need to win this game.

Yes. Why would we want our best player to be our best player if it doesn't help polak's pool?

C'mon team, let's keep our priorities in line here.

Thank you.

If we had my roster we'd be destroying this petty league. Treliving I'm coming for your job.

Going to watch this one live instead of peeking at the score and getting pissed off.

Some inside info but Gio is battling through a couple of injuries right now.

They played off the day off yesterday as a maintenance day but he is actually hurt.

According to some of those close to it he was actually 50/50 to even play in the Panthers game.

strange to say this, but that is actually great to hear. If he's fighting through something then his play has been completely understandable, but if he was just slumping that may have been cause for some concern. Gotta get Gio into the second round of the playoffs, guy deserves it. plus brodie-gio is a potent 1-2 punch in a playoff series i'm betting.

I should have said TB ends up with -1/12th. Then I could have made a really nerdy joke about how awful the Flames' defense is.
