Shocking.

We are at that time of year when we will have no idea who is hurt and if they are, what it is.

Pro tip - if the coach is asked about injuries, and his lips start moving, you're not hearing the real story.

I'm inclined to say keep resting Monahan but we simply have no idea what's going on with him.

I'm almost certain it's a concussion from the game against the devils.

I'm inclined to agree. Can't say I'm a huge fan of the NHL's culture of deception when it comes to this stuff. It doesn't do the players any favors IMO.

He is like a Martin Gelinas kind of player. Consistent work ethic and can play up and down the line-up and contribute.

Zucker's career output and his output this season is very similar to Frolik's. The plus is that he is is 4 years younger and signed. But for this season, going into the playoffs, I don't see Zucker as an upgrade worth adding a 1st rounder for (even a late first rounder).
Given the contract lengths, i'd rather keep Frolik.

If you move Frolik for a contract like Zucker, your top 6 for the next few years will be set. There won't be any room to acquire any other big ticket forwards, cough Taylor Hall cough.

Guess it depends on how much you like Zucker.

As for Neal, you certainly need to give the guy a shot given what he has shown he can accomplish in his prior life.

But I'm not convinced he is one of the team's top 12 forwards. And if he isn't come playoff time, get ready to see Peters healthy scratch the Real Deal which is going to make for some great reading.

In his press availability today, Coach Peters said something relevant to this discussion about who comes out when Neal returns. He said Mangiapane has looked good with Doc and Hath and also with Janko and Czarnik "so there's a little bit of a common denominator in the 88 car". It sounds like Coach Peters has liked Mangiapane's game.

Looks like Bennett and Monahan are back in, Neal remains out for #Flames.

I would like to see:

Gaudreau-Monahan-Lindholm
Tkachuk-backlund-frolik
Bennett-Ryan-Neal
Mangiapane-Janko-Czarnik
Hathaway as the extra

Gives Ryan an expanded role and breaks up janko-bennett which I dont think is a good pair in favor of the recent chemistry janko-mangi have been vibing with.

Ryan has really grown on me as the season has progressed. I was not a big fan of his “over-use” by Bill Peters initially, but I have come around to that now. He is the perfect example of a utility player. Can fit into any role and do a good job at it.

He also just seems like a genuinely hard working, nice, and humble person. Hard to find things to dislike.

That is a good call. Ryan has been playing very well offensively and his ability to win faceoffs would give Neal and Bennett more puck possession and hopefully scoring opportunities.

I think you play Hathaway over Czarnik though. He brings grit and is a decent agitator. That trio was also our first line in the AHL a couple years ago was it not?

They were, but I believe they were trade out a bit earlier in the season and the magic wasnt there.. definitely could see Hathaway easily rotating in with czarnik or even neal depending on how everyone is playing!
It doesnt look to me like we've tried a Bennett-ryan-neal line before so I would like to see it!

I think Peters likes the heaviness of a Bennett - Jankowski - Neal line as an option. I think there will be lots of times when that kind of play is needed. Peters has done it with the 3M line - he's been very tactical.

I'd like to see these lines tried during playoffs...

Gaudreau - Monahan - Neal
Tkachuk - Backlund - Frolik
Mangiapane - Lindholm - Czarnik
Bennett - Ryan - Hathaway

Spares: Jankowski & Dubé

You’re not even trying now...immediately after Neal was injured (literally the very next game) the boys went on a season high 7-game winning streak (Neal wasn’t skating then)

Feb 14 -Florida - loss (Neal injured in this game)
Pitt - won
Ari - won
NY - won
Ana - won
Ott - won
NY - won
NJ - won
Mar 02 - Minnesota- loss

I guess you’re still not changing your opinion, even though the “ inputs” you used to come to that opinion have been proven to be the EXACT opposite

It’s just so painful watching you post, it really is.

Sound like two diseases. I mean, one actually is, and the other is such an abomination of the english language that it might as well be.

Why are people suggesting to ‘try things’ in the playoffs?...isnt that what the regular season is for?
