He told the judge over and over, "I'm not suicidal and I didn't do this"
Firstly, what? And secondly, yes you did admit your mistake people are forgiving.
I can't speak to the "I didn't do this" part (as a jury clearly felt he did), but the "I'm not suicidal" thing is something I'm seeing more of lately, especially among Black people going to jail. Someone sentenced to jail states publicly (generally to a camera and/or on their social media presence) that they are not suicidal, so that "in case something happens and I end up dead while in jail, you'll know that they killed me and are trying to get away with it, as I have no intention to killing myself."

As if anyone would want to kill Smollett... what he's trying to say there is that he's been railroaded because he's black, which is what he's been saying all along, and there are in fact some people who believe it. So he'll continue with this charade, serve his 150 days and pay his fines and keep his Gaius-Baltar-esque cult of people who still think he's been framed and actually was attacked.

My guess would be its related to the Jeffrey Epstein death and worries they'd get killed in prison and then it claimed a suicide.

The fact he’s trying to pretend people want him dead for exposing this racial “conspiracy” is insane. He’s insane. He’s just doubling down on it every time. The man needs help. He’s clearly a pathological liar or mentally unwell or both.

Many people these days are pandering to being a victim. In this case he faked being lynched, was exposed by the guys he hired, and he's still claiming it. Shameful.
I didn't think it was possible to think of this guy as a bigger joke, but then I watched this.

He was pretty clear and his lawyers were like "Can we suspend the sentence" Nope. Can we get a stay Nope.
Its pretty clear that there's something mentally broken with Smollets
Me too, especially when he said "the wheels of justice turn slowly, sometimes the hammer of justice has to fall, it's falling right here right now. I'm not staying this."
Eh, to be expected, really. He's not really a danger to anyone, and can't imagine him flying the coop to avoid prosecution. Likely the worst that'll happen is he hosts some preposterous press conference about how he's being persecuted because he's gay and black—the same old dog-and-pony show as before—and his credibility is so far down the toilet the only thing likely to come of THAT is fodder for stand-up comedians and late-night talk show hosts.
