Valimaki is arguably their best prospect and having back-to-back long term injures could be brutal for his development. Hoping he recovers quickly and can play towards the end of the season. Missing so much time is just scary at his age.
|
He rebounded without question from the high ankle sprain. It does hurt his development, but the if he is the type of player the organization thinks he is, then he should be okay.

Secondly, 6-8 months puts him back anywhere February to March. That would be an ideal time frame for a player to return. Pretty much the same time he returned from his high ankle sprain. If he can come back and put a solid month or two in the AHL then it would be a positive. Like they mentioned on the radio, you would rather lose a player in August than in March.
Sucks he got injured, but the season wasn't predicated on Valimaki playing the regular season in Calgary. If he can be dropped in the final weeks and playoffs the Flames are in the same position.

It hurts long term and this year. They opportunity to move Brodie to gain a top 6 forward is gone. No way they can move brodie now. Plus now if anyone else gets hurt who is getting the call?
Then you have the what if 1 of the 4 young dmen step up? The flames.d could have been better than last year with the 4 kids they have. Valimaki has highest potential of 3 unproven dmen and when you have cap issues his 925k is hard to replace him for that amount.

Would love to sign Neon Dion.
Just for the lulz.
Cuz he's slow.
And sloppy.
And its his second time in Calgary.

The Flames can only sign Phaneuf if Easton starts making his lime green stick again.

I loved when he and Langkow both rocked the green sticks.
So good.

He'll be back in the spring. I tore my ACL and wasn't normal for about 8 months. It sucked but I wasn't 20 years old and an elite athlete. I'm sure he'll be ready to go come March-April.

The chances that Kylington is ever better than Hanifin is quite low.
And his big contract is a spectacular deal for Calgary.

Phaneuf would be awesome as a replacement
If not, we have some internal options. Kylington, Yeltsin, Davidson, valiev

Any interest in Ben Hutton? He's younger than most of the UFAs still available. He'd be looking for more than just a one year contract.

Lots of talk that there is an agreement in place with Vancouver pending the RFA resolution of Boeser

Well it's more a rule of mine than one of my actual laws.
