The only thing I think was missing from that documentary was a better dive into the finances. I have a sneaking suspicion there was likely some drug dealing involved in how these folks came by their money. You'll never convince me you can spend that much money per day on maintaining the animals and still make millions in a backwater animal park.
Agreed on both counts.

Some of the cast of supporting characters seem very interesting and marginally less bat#### insane than the primary players.

But yes, this is basically just animal prostitution and slavery and god only knows what else. The finances absolutely do not add up.

But that one guy brazenly told the interviewers that after getting out of prison for chopping up a Federal Agent with a buzzsaw and disposing of his remains that he was surgically inserting drugs and cash into snakes and other animals to smuggle it across borders.

Jesus these people. Florida is a hell of a drug.

Two takaways from Tiger King
A) Everybody is garbage, especially Tony and his balding bandana/hat combo
B) There is still a market for Affliction shirts, 15 years later.

Carole is by far the worst of these people IMO. Of all these people she's the only one that we know was involved with murder. The operation she's running is no better than Joe's or Doc's and it's pretty clear to me her plan is to be last person standing in the exotic zoo business by attempting to discredit the competition while being guilty of using the same business practices. Very ambitious, cunning, and ruthless.

She also leverages "volunteers" to run her zoo.

They all do that. Doc does it through Cult tactics and prostitution, Joe extorts the desperate and hopeless and Carol does it through manipulation and under the preposterous veneer of legitimacy.

All the people working on those zoos are basically slaves with a few extra steps.

Not excusing the manipulation but I will say in the case for some of these people (Joe's employees especially) it seems to have given them some purpose in life. Not sure if the alternative would be rosier for some of them.

They're all terrible. Joe tried to murder someone, just didn't get away with it. The loud wide-eyed pony-tailed fellow was ultra creepy with the young girls and how he made people worship him and they all leveraged the cats and those under them to work for free.

We watched the first two episodes of Tiger King and so far I'm more depressed than anything. These worthless crappy excuses for human beings are killing me.

Did he? Lowe literally told the camera how he strung him along and tricked him into saying the things on wire he needed to say to "get him out of this zoo" haha.

The funny part for me is that I think the Documentary crew started this project under the impression that they'd have:

Carol - Normal Private Zoo Owner and Animal Preservationist
Doc - Little weird but experienced and accredited Exotic Animal Specialist
Joe - Bat#### crazy Tiger lunatic

Now take this group and explore the themes of Privately owned Exotic Animal Parks in America and their relative lack of oversight and regulation and the issues and problems that arise because of it.

But as the Documentary unfolds and they start pulling back the various levels on each of these individuals and groups in turn they start spiraling down into unique and interesting levels of Hell.

I feel like I doubt the Documentary guys thought this project was going to go the way it did when they first set out making it.

Its just that as it turned out they happened to be bystanders at a Train Wreck who just happened to have cameras rolling.

It's the Libertarian primary. He definitely appeals to a segment of their weirdo demographic.
