Probably a few injuries and then a lot of the rest of the guys need to clear waivers before they can be assigned.
Not sure why the junior guys weren't announced though

Extra day of practice to let them know they distinguished themselves amongst their peers?

People seriously need to get over the incontrovertible fact that Troy Brouwer will be playing hockey in Calgary for the full season. The sooner everyone comes to accept this the better off we all will be.

3 brutal plays in his own zone that could have easily lead to goals. Worst defensemen on our team by a country mile last night. Give me Kulak or Andersson as #6.

Regarding Glass, I too have to admit he's impressed me so far. My only concerns would be that he's trying hard now to earn a job then will disappear for large stretches if he sticks around.
Still, would rather him on a 2 way than Gazdic

If prefer Anderssen too but have to say Wotherspoon has looked better than Kulak to me

I was at last night's game. Wotherspoon has been absolutly awful to mediocre throughout his stints. I dont get the love people have for him. Kulak is quite a bit better despite his inconsistencies, and Anderson is past him now. Wotherspoon is just a younger Bartkowski but because he's a drafted prospect he gets treated with kid gloves all the time.

His game wasn't perfect but he certainly played quite well. In addition, the defencemen you're comparing against are Gio, Hamilton, Brodie, and Stone. I'll admit that Andersson also had a good game, but I would challenge you to find another poster that though Wotherspoon was head and shoulders below Andersson in last night's game specifically.
Kulak and Andersson aren't without their own warts. Everybody here seems to have their favorite player(s) of the battling defencemen, but it's far from a consensus. In fact, of the borderline D with a conceivable shot to make the team, Kylington was the only one sent down today and that in itself is surprising to many.
This is all just to say that the Flame's defensive opening roster is far from a foregone conclusion, despite individuals having their own preferences.

All except Kylington were not surprises. Feel it is a bit too early for him but I get it.

I agree Kulak is probably ahead of Wotherspoon but he has had some real bad games as well. I'm glad we have Wotherspoon still as an option. However Anderson should be ahead of both

I feel like Kylington being sent down was all just numbers as there are 3 other left shot bubble ddfencemen. Sounds like he played well and hopefully the Flames let him know that. By this time next year, all 3 of the bubble guys could be gone and Kylington will be with the Flames.

Wotherspoon could not be any less like Bartkowski if he tried.
Also, Wotherspoon was very good last night and has outplayed Kulak by quite a bit.

Was hoping to see Gazdic assigned as well. Really hope he's not taking up a spot on the regular season roster.

Gulutzan has said he wants to basically have the final lineup in place for the last two preseason games. That likely means that Gio, Dougie, Brodie, Hamonic, and Stone will all play in those two games. I suspect we'll see Kulak, Wotherspoon, and Bartkowski each get one game paired up with Stone to see who fits the best. Maybe Andersson and Valimaki get one more game on Monday, but there really isn't another open spot to give Kylington one more game.

Also, some of the guys who they kept could be working through some nagging injuries and they want to keep them in Calgary to work with the Flames staff while they still can.
