Default 2017 PGA Tour, Brooke Henderson is Awesome and CDN Golf Thread.

Starting a new thread for 2017

At the Farmers Insurance Open, all 5 Canadians in the field made the cut. Hadwin currently 2nd after a good first day and a mediocre 2nd day. DeLaet dropping back, with Hughes, McKenzie and Fritsch all well back of the leaders. That said, they made the cut and Tiger did not.

Brooke Henderson is in a large group at T-9 starting her third round. Leblanc (big hitter) is around the top 30 and so is Alena Sharpe, each of whom are 4 or 5 under today to climb the leaderboard. That said, this looks to be a course where scores will go very low. Have to shoot mid-60s to keep pace with the leaders, and even that might not be enough to move up much in the top 10.

No Champions Tour events until mid Feb

Web.com had an odd event which started Sunday and finished Wednesday. Canadian Corry Connors finished T-7. There are a pile of Canadians on the Web.com tour this year.

Been waiting in line for about 30 minutes to get into the 16th hole at the Waste Management Open.

So quiet around the rest of the course, but you can hear so much cheering here as I wait in line.

Jealous! 16th hole at the Waste Management is firmly in my bucket list.

Such a fun time. I was there by myself and still had a blast. Definitely recommend it anyone. So glad I took in the experience. Definitely want to go back with a group of friends where I don't have to worry about driving home.

Not sure this will work but a couple photos and videos that I took.

De Laet finishes T-9, which is great.

Hadwin finishes T-12

However...... De Laet essentially 3 putted from the fringe on 16 and 18 to cost himself a T-4. 18 in particular was one he should have been able to get down in 2 (27 feet) 10 times out of 10.

Yeah, great weekend in the end, but he definitely fell apart today compared to how he was playing. He was right there for a top 5 finish with decent putting today.

Exciting playoff finish right now. Going to their fourth extra hole. Simpson has choked about three times already, haha. He should have won this by now.

Good showing by the Canucks. They need to keep getting in contention so that it's not a strange feeling for them.

More wins are on the way.

Big result for Rod Spittle on the Champions Tour today. He shoots a bogey free -3 to finish in a 3 way tie for 3rd. Great result early in the season for a guy who (as far as I can recall) does not have full time status on tour this year.
Stephen Ames finished well back in T-51

On the PGA Tour, rain delayed event with players catching up. Dustin Johnson is running away with the event, but Graham DeLaet looks to be putting in 3 solid rounds after a rough day 1. He's currently in 13th, 2 shots out of a top 5 finish. Hopefully he can finish strong.

For the ladies, 3 Canadians finish in the top 25 in Australia, with Brooke being T-21, Sharpe t-16 and a big result for Leblanc who cracks a top 10 with T-7. That would be a career best result for Leblanc.

On the web.com tour, 4 Canadians make the cut in Panama, with 2 finishing t-30 (Sloan and Connors).

Part way through the 3rd round and DeLaet continues his solid play at the Honda Classic. He started T-5 and has birdied to par 3s on the front nine to sit T-4, 2 shots back of the lead. Hearn climbed 28 spots today to sit around T25 by shooting a 3 under. Have to think that if DeLaet finishes -3 or -4 on the day he climbs as well.

No Champions or Web.com events this week.

LPGA is in Thailand. Sharpe and Henderson well back of the leaders.

This feels like it is going to be the best year for Canadian golf since weir and Ames were in their prime. Hughes, hadwin and delaet all seem to be in contention regularly.

^^^
Dont forget that the most impressive Canadian golfer (coming off the single best season possibly ever by a Canadian) is currently playing on the LPGA.

As for DeLaet....

DeLaet with a big par save on the 10th hold. Missed the fairway, had to lay up. Hit his third from 115 yards out, made the par save from 10 feet.

That's got to be huge for his confidence. Let's see if he can rally to a big back nine.

aaaaaaaaaand I jinxed him

He follows up the big par save with a 3 put from 30 feet.

Update: He's now gone 4 over through the 7 holes after that big par save. 18 is a par 5 and he's in the fairway off the tee, but he's gone from T-3 to T-19

DeLaet holds on for a 10th place finish. Great result. T-11 last week.

Great result and hope he can gain some momentum from the week.

Brooke Henderson shoots a 5 under 67 and is T-2 after round 1 in Singapore, just 1 back of Michelle Wie.

Hadwin in the lead at the Valspar after a 29 on the back nine. Looks like we'll have another weekend with a Canadian in contention!

Go Hadwin!!!

Although i'll admit I really want Flames fan DeLaet to win before Canucks fan Hadwin.

Fritsch is a sens fan. Not sure about Hearn.

Hadwin's game is really in good shape these days. Putting is unreal. I think he's going to have a break out year.

I think hearn is red wings or something American?

How about Hughes?
