Jesus, sounds like we just gave up a 4 on 1. That's Oilers bad.

Offensively, the Flames are playing lights out. They could have about four goals by now if it weren't for Darling.
Baertschi looked like Winterhawks Baertschi there for a few shifts. Just when you think the play is dead, Baertschi will pull off a nice dangle through a set of legs and get a shot off.
The Elson-Knight-Hanowski line could have a couple of goals. Knight and Elson in particular have done some really nice things. Knight's vision and Elson's speed have worked well together so far.
The defense has been shaky though. Wotherspoon looks like he's had a full camp under him though. "Shaky" and "Wotherspoon" are the antithesis of eachother. Cundari's already had a few nice hits.
Without a doubt Thiessen's been bailing them out at the other end though.

I don't understand why the IceHogs had to go out and get TJ Brennan. They're blueline is already freakishly skilled then they go and add the Brennan who scored more points than like 85% of the AHL's forwards.
Unfair. Just so unfair.

Ferland and Svedberg dropped the gloves. Ferland got a nice shot in that buckled Svedberg's knees... which I'm fairly sure is what happens everytime he fights.

Arnold with a power move on the Rockford defender, but rings it off the post short side on the PP. Nice move.

Yonkman and Stevenson look brutal out there. Pumping out more turnovers than an industrial oven.

Almost no puck possession. Brutal, from what I have seen the last few minutes. Hope it improves in the second.

It is the second period.
It's night and day so far between the two periods. They've looked horrible in the middle frame.

It's still early in the Flames season... But I just don't understand why they would have let Troy G Ward go after everything he did for this club. Ryan Huska looks lost, it appears there is way too much puck pressure, hail mary's and dump-ins.
The team is totally lacking the puck possession that got them into the playoffs last year.

Short of sounding like a Ward fan boy (which I'm sure I'll be accused of), I think Ward should've gotten just one more year. He finally got an assortment of good, young talent and the results speak for themselves.
A full year with this squad and I think a lot could've been achieved. There was just a difference in philosophy. It's too bad.

I'm a Ward fan, unabashedly. Loved his focus, commitment, demeanor, and his ability to make every win and loss a lesson for his young skaters.
I'm not even sure what i would say his deficiency was. I saw some stats saying the Heat were actually a low possession team last year but it didn't pass my eye test. Even if they gave up equal chances last year, the quality for was far above the quality against.
I guess his other issue was he didn't really tow the line as far as systems, but I think that's a silly mistake on managements part. Ward had a completely different make-up on his roster, didn't make sense to play Hartley's game with that Heat squad last year.
Where did Ward wind up anyway? CHL? Echl? Assisting?

Thank you for being my google. That what makes a hockey forum awesome.
I have to bury this Ward thing... Consider that my last complaint about us dropping him.

Beautiful goal by Knight on a breakaway! He went forehand-backhand top shelf. 2-1 for the Flames in the third.

Tie game. Svedberg with a blast from the point makes it 2-2.

According to Addy's beat writer, she "believes" Sieloff is a healthy scratch.
