I posted this in the other thread. With Belafonte also passing this week, I thought it would be appropriate to post this:

It's a beautiful cover of a Gordon Lightfoot song. Lightfoot has to be one of the most covered artists from that era.

So fortunate to have seen him in concert prior to Covid. I was probably one of ten people under 50 in attendance, but he was still fantastic to hear live.

RIP Gordon.

Very sad. A truly iconic songwriter. Glad I got to see him live at the Jubilee.

Black Day in July. A great historical/social song. The drummer rips it up. Much of the lyric is as relevant today as when it was written. RIP Gordon.

RIP Gordon.

My favorite. Just hits the right spot for me. Folklore that was pretty much made up about an early Canada, yet still feels authentic. A country that lacks deep history needs story tellers like Gordon.

One of the top 3, if not the best solo artist in Canadian History, IMO

Going to go listen to The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald now.

Sundown and Early Morning Rain are two of my favorite songs of all time.

Thanks for the art, Gord.

A true Canadian legend whose reach extended far beyond Canada. People that know music appreciate Gordon Lightfoot.

Our Bob Dylan, with a much more beautiful voice. May he rest in peace.

A true Canadian legend, and one of the most influential songwriters ever. He might also be one of the most covered artists of all time.

Just a few of my favorite Lightfoot covers:

The very first album I bought with my own money. Still one of the greatest! I've seen him SO often, from the little Kee to Bala, to Convocation Hall at U of T, to the Jube in Calgary...over a 50+year span.

Just heartbroken and in tears right now.
