Maybe it's because the Flames take a ton of penalties and he's often on the penalty kill.
In that sense, his absence was notable during the last game.

They lost another close one-goal game at the Saddledome in which Colorado scored the first two goals.
Getting a win tonight would definitely go a long way to pulling the Flames back to the level they need to be playing, and I tend to think there is some reason for a little optimism going into the game: the Flames have been competitive in their previous two while amid stretches of considerable difficulty. Now that they are playing some of their best hockey of the season, it seems like a good bet they can win this.

I'm so used to this acronym as Edmonton No Good it took me a sec to realize what you meant.

I am amazed that it hasn't become a thing yet.
Giordano-Brodie
Hanifin-Andersson
whatever is left
edit: in this case, Kylington-Hamonic
|
Yean Andersson is taking huge strides this season, he needs more ice. I get Giordano back with Brodie, but maybe they should start moving past one of Hamonic / Brodie in the top four anyway ... open some options for the trade deadline.
Glad Kylington is back against a speedy team. He's still a work in progress in decision making but can make up for gaffs with his boots.

Absolute must win. Hoping for another point or two for Lucic. Keep shifting talk from Neal to how good Lucic has been.
I did work for Lucic's wife at their place when they got back into town after Buffalo. Told them him and chucky were my favorites on the team. That hes been playing amazing along with their whole line and I bet the points will start coming. One game later, boom.

It's a big measuring stick game but that's kinda silly. What are you going to do if they lose?

Sure, but he's still a backup. Depending on assignments, sometimes backups have numbers that are better than their play. He's 6.0, so that maybe favours Calgary, who IMO has more trouble against the bigger goalies.
I see he's from Pilzn, which is a great place to visit for one reason.

lol @ Flames fans being excited about a back up goalie being in for the opposition.
Flames usually make back ups look like Vezina candidates.

I think this is something every fanbase feels about their team. Same with having a player score their 1st goal or a milestone goal against their team.
The ATL reports have definitely backed that idea up.

Funny to reflect on this. 2 years ago, I would have said the bolded was Rittich's weakness. He was often beaten by long screened shots. He's now much more aggressive with keeping a visual on the puck through traffic.

I think I am finally over my PTSD from my 2 visits to the Pepsi Center last spring. It was so bad, I even turned down freebies for the game earlier this year.
Busting out my ‘04 Iginla for the occasion.

Yup. Grubauer has definitely been the weakness in that team so far. Sucks that he's out tonight.

Backups aren't backups because they're terrible, it's because they can't handle a starters workload. They're still good goalies, going up against a hot one isn't so ridiculous to me

Just being a sensationalist for no reason lol. I'll be fine if it's a good or close game and they lose. If they get blown out though I might join the CP riot for once.

Rittich will keep the game close and I predict Gaudreau continues to up his game. Flames win 3-1

Flames haven't had a blowout win yet this season.
Do you remember the St-Valentine's massacre game?
No? So for those who don't , tomorrow you will remember the 9 to 1 game on 9-12!
