Elliot suspension is upheld, but he can play in week 1.

Probably best for the Cowboys to just let this go so they can have him back for the 2nd half of the season. If the NFLPA gets that temporary restraining order it may be worse for the Cowboys if they have to have him sit out at the end of the season. The guy was caught on film unwantedly lifting up a girls shirt multiple times and his girlfriend had her arm all bruised up (he admits they had rough sex) allegedly from him. The NFL wants it's athletes behaving better than this which is why they toughened up the player conduct policy. Maybe time to accept this kid needs to grow up and accept the medicine.

So...looks like Kaepernick would have had a job..but his girlfriend went complete donkey and screwed it up for him.
Quote:
"We were going to close the deal to sign him," Lewis said on Showtime's "Inside the NFL" on Tuesday night. "Steve Bisciotti said, 'I want to hear Colin Kaepernick speak to let me know that he wants to play football.'"
"And it never happens because that picture comes up the next day."
The Aug. 2 tweet by Nessa Diab compared a picture of Lewis hugging Bisciotti to a scene from "Django Unchained," where Samuel L. Jackson's loyal house slave held Leonardo DiCaprio's cruel plantation owner.

The Week 1 matchup between the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Miami Dolphins has been rescheduled for Week 11 due to the threat of Hurricane Irma, the NFL announced Wednesday. Both teams share the same bye week, and the game will be played on Nov. 19.

Prudent decision.

Can't he only play if his restraining order thing is accepted? If the judge doesn't side with him he has to sit.

I think he's playing the first game regardless. If the judge doesn't side with him then he starts his suspension week 2.

This is just brutal to read. There is also a video of the incident floating around.
Just so sad this crap is going on.

It's about time that someone come out with some information to support owners who have decided not to sign Kaepernick. Players are coming out of the woodwork without knowing a damn thing about the situation to support Kaepernick with their expert judgement on his ability to help a team.
When you associate with someone who is willing to compare an NFL owner to a slave owner and a HOF icon of the team to a Stockholm Syndrome suffering slave you don't deserve a job in the league. He needs to separate himself from the negativity and make his focus football if he wants to play. If he doesn't, that's fine too. His choice. But the media and the idiot NFL players need to stop with the BS blacklist theory.

Reminder: Ray Lewis is a murderer, so his word doesn't count for much. Also, the Ravens built a statue of said murderer, so they aren't exactly what we'd call the morally superior party here.

Which has nothing to do with this situation.

Strange post. Are you saying Kaepernick's girlfriend should be applauded for her genius of calling out Lewis as a slave and the possible employer of her boyfriend as a slave driver?

The meme isn't calling Ray a slave, it's calling him a coon. And if you aren't aware the vast majority of the black community thinks Ray is a coon, so there's that. What Ray has to say is pretty much meaningless, he's a blowhard. And for the Ravens, they were cool with a murderer playing for them, and a woman beater until the tape came out, so it seems strange calling Ray a coon is some kind of disqualifier. I don't think they ever had any intention of signing Kaepernick at all, not that his girlfriend posting a meme somehow was too much for them.

I don't think that's true, if so it's a sad satement to the people that would feel that about Lewis.
Also really don't see what any of that has to do with the situation. Kaepernick isn't good enough of a QB to be wearing pig socks and having his gf post way off base memes.

No Owner/Gm wants to bring in back up quarterback that is going to be a distraction. If he was a star he would be playing. But he is a back up so there are much better options.
Besides, its a pocket passing league. Guys like him and RGIII have short life spans till the tape is there.

This is such nonsense. We're acting as if the NFL has any consistency when it comes to hiring or not hiring players based on character concerns. We have two rapists starting at QB in the league but we're going to draw the line at dating someone who posts something off-colour on twitter?

Regarding Kaepernick vs Osweiller; when picking between two piles of #### for QB's pick the one that is less of a distraction. Osweiller will probably fade away to nothing but Kaepernick will be mentioned every bloody week for an entire season. Nobody really cares about the back up QB and the less you hear the better.
This is the NFL, if a team thinks you can help them win or make them money they will sign you regardless of what you have done.
