That and let’s not kid ourselves, that City team is pretty impressive. They played a strong side for yesterday and when you’ve been funded by a nation-state for however many years it’s pretty difficult for other normal rich people to keep up.

Of course they are.

They have unlimited resources.

They got caught for having unlimited resources and were...oh right. Nothing happened.

"Oh. We have too much money? What if....oh my God! Here is more money!! Would you like it?"

That’s why I thought it was so bizarre that they were one of the first ones out of the ESL. The World Cup in Qatar is the only logical explanation.

Oh yeah.

Don't want to piss off the organization that you bribed to pay you a ton of money.

Reminder, PSG = Qatar, Man City = UAE. Two countries hate each other just for an added bonus.

What an elite publicity stunt. Besides getting his name out there when most people had no idea who he was a week ago, I can't imagine how much money he's gonna make stringing Arsenal fans along as they sign up for Spotify in the hopes it gets rid of Kroenke. Genius really.

it's all moot too, Kroenke won't sell.

https://www.skysports.com/football/n...-takeover-talk

it's similar to United, the idea of them selling is nice - but even if all the protests keep going on, there's just too much money to be made for them to consider pulling out.

I could see Kroenke eventually selling, but not right now in this economy. In a few years, when he can have a genuine bidding war, I'm sure he'd sell if the number was met.

Hmmm, I don't know what you mean by "in this economy". People whose wealth is proportional to the performance of the "index" are doing rather well now, and money is practically free - you just have ask for some...

Whatever a direct meeting is, spurs are having it with Ten Haag according to Romano

Hoping now for him, potter, or rangnick

Parker and Allegri would be good too

Howe I like, but potter and parker have passed him by imo in terms of next english manager to get a chance at a bigger club

Martinez or southgate would be no, never, never, nope, not this time, not ever

I just want Rangnick because I think he would instill a system and make a long term change. Eventually he could be DoF and Levy could get out of the way. Hitchen wouldn’t have to worry about the January window that he doesn’t like either.

Overall, I just hope we get someone playing a good forward style. I’m lukewarm on Ten Hag because it might or might not come together under Levy. It’s hard to say. I feel similarly about Potter. I know that his numbers would look a lot better if he had someone who could score. But frankly, people setup against Brighton different than Spurs; I’m not sure how his style works for us.

Anyway, some good options there these days, and hopefully we can land someone who makes some changes for the future.

It makes no sense to me to try and buy one of the so called big six... their values are so high/overinflated and if you're going to drop 2 billion you could buy a mid/bottom table prem club with a big fanbase for 300 mil (or a big champ club for even less), build a fancy new stadium and buy an amazing squad all for a fraction of the price.

City, Chelsea, etc were those kinds of clubs before the megabucks got invested. Guy really has 2 bil hanging around there are cheaper and more fun ways to the top.

But if he buys Arsenal he becomes a demigod to their fans (at least initially) because he saved them from Kroenke. And even as banter as they are they still have a massive fanbase. Ego usually outweighs logic.

He's also a lifelong Arsenal fan. Buying a different club won't scratch that itch.

Sports clubs are often vanity projects for the ultra rich.

Although they can also be very useful money-laundering projects.

Looking at you City and Chelsea...

Chelsea I could see as money laundering, but Man City? Is there an Emirates mafia I'm unaware of?
