That doesn't change what I'm saying. This plays right into the right-wing narrative. You and I might be smart enough to see the nuances but the average voter just sees that Trump gave them a cheque and Biden broke his promises.

Ah, but have patience young grasshopper. You’ll soon see that Trump gave a $600 check and Biden will have given $1400.

“vote for democrats and you get 2000” was a big part of the way they won Georgia and “syke $1400 cause you got 600 already” is not something the average voter would be happy about eh? You say 2000, you give 2000. When you position yourself as the anti trump, the truth teller, the man of honesty, it hurts your brand when the first thing you do is start with “see what had happened was...”

And you all thought that the three new justices would be partisan hacks and would give Trump a contested election and throw out all mail in votes and make him Emperor.

No, I think they will stop the US moving forward from it's worship of the founders and 1776, I think legally the US will be stuck for decades with a fairly absolutist view of the constitution

Correct lol. It was an ass kicking, if it came down to stealing one state then that's one thing, stealing six is not possible.

Sigh... no. We were all concerned about a range of possible outcomes that went from "Biden wins easily, Trump sulks and doesn't do anything to calm down his insane supporters but power transfers without any real incident", to "Trump declares victory and tries to undermine the process and stirs his supporters into an angry mob that does terrible things like attacking the Capitol", to "Trump declares victory and attempts to undermine the process and the judiciary decides to go along with it".
The fact that the real-world outcome was neither the best case nor the worst case scenario, but something in between, doesn't mean people were wrong to worry about the possibility of the worst case scenario. It also doesn't mean they thought it was somehow guaranteed.

The disgraced former president still doesn’t get that appointing judges and certain other officials doesn’t make them his employees.

There were democrats who believed it and maybe one poster in this thread. However most people were concerned that a textualist interpretation of laws would in general lead to more citizens united type rulings, rulings against minorities/ marginalized groups, and allow legislators to make laws without regard to anything not explicitly prohibited by the constitution.

My view remains the same, get COVID money out NOW!
Then discuss the minimum wage issue seperate so you can delay it longer to try to get more from Joe. Help people now with COVID
Regarding minimum wage, including state laws, the average minimum wage right now in the USA is $11.80
So, Joe's proposal still helps people, those who are in the 10% of states who are at the current federal minimum wage of $7.25
But not many...

Shh Biden’s busy doing other stuff. We’ll get our Covid money when they’re good and goddamn ready.
Edit: and before one of the bootlickers comes flying in with their defence of daddy Biden I know it’s on Congress to pass it not Biden. He’s just not doing the stuff he promised as a candidate and we’re supposed to accept that and move on. But at least he’s not Trump so everything is fine.

How long does it keep them there?
A UBI is a short term solution that doesn’t fix anything. As soon as the same people who are currently saying the minimum wage is too high start saying the same thing about UBI, and you know that would absolutely happen and be supported, inflation will erode any gains made by those relying on UBI until we’re right back to where we started, only at that point a minimum wage will have also likely been abolished.
