Barely at all, but in fairness he’s hardly noticeable out there and touches the puck very little.

Also, great to see the 3 California teams at the bottom of the division.

There's a zillion hits a year where one player lines up another without playing the puck. Does Upshall think you're not allowed to hit a player a millisecond after they've passed the puck? His take is just silly.
|
Exactly, has Upshall never hit an opponent that way AT ALL throughout his career?

He openly admitted he had to solidify his opinion that it was dirty hit, because he made those kinds of hits all the time.

I'm not sure what I want the NHL to do here, but my entire life of watching this sport tells me that even if you're not throwing dirty hits, if you're running around the ice taking big shots at the other team's players, you should know you're going to have to drop the gloves at some point. That's just how it's always been, and I honestly still want it to be that way. I can't stand Brad Marchand, for example, and the fact that he can get away with his antics without any retribution or penalty is galling. It's pretty hard to blame people for feeling that way about Tkachuk sometimes (or his brother for that matter).
That being said, Kassian is a clown. Literally, he's funny. Just his facial expressions are funny. The fact that he takes himself so seriously is even funnier. If Tkachuk was going to troll anyone that's the perfect target.

I was just gonna say its pretty hard to boo a guy who never has the puck...I mean he had a couple chances but they were just quick shots

Tkachuk has dropped the gloves before, and he will again. Hell one time he dropped the gloves vs the Kings and Jake Muzzin didn't!
Too bad if the opposing team and fans want him to do it every game however.

Also...as I think has been stated ad nauseaum, why take himself off the ice when the Flames are going to be enjoying a lengthy powerplay?

This gets lost in history, but yep, Tkachuk WILL drop the gloves when he crosses that line. He even fought TWICE for that Doughty elbow the next game IIRC. That's what makes Tkachuk not a 'dirty rat' like some others were. If he really crosses that line, he will atone for it, and as a fan, I love to see it. He doesn't have to atone for his antics that don't result in injuries (or attempted injuries), or his yapping and 'accidental bumps'. Once he crosses that line though, he will atone for it, and he will also fight to stick up for his team mates.

As suspected, that third hit was the biggest of the bunch and wobbled Kassian. Evidenced by the fact that you would assume he’d make a straight b line to Tkachuk (but he didn’t).
Nevermind the fact you’d figure after his psychotic flip out the last time they were on the ice together, he would know exactly where MT was at all times, and, ignore the puck if he had to, in order to get another chance at Tkachuk. Instead he got clobbered again.

Great thread to go through and read. What a win! It was a big one as the Flames need to keep it up because the western conf. standings are ultra tight. The Flames are only 3 points up on the 9th place Jets. The bullseye is set on the 1st place Blues, they're just 10 points up on the Flames in the conference.

The Nucks are 1 point back with a game in hand. I hope the Flames keep their foot on the gas!
