Seems really good for the Jets. Averaging 20 minutes per game, +6.7 CF% rel.

For DeMelo? I was thinking I would have paid less, but I don't think too much of him as a player.

That's really cheap. Would have loved him here for that price.

I’d imagine that if Treliving was serious about adding somebody, and DeMelo could have been had for a 3rd, that we would have been in on this.

If we weren’t in on this (I have no clue if we were or not) that might be telling as far as what Treliving thinks of our chances this year. This would have been an easy immediate upgrade.

I can feel it starting.............the flippy flop of this site. Not saying it's the same posters, but the overwhelming vibe of "BT better not waste any draft picks on rentals cause this team just doesn't have it"................is quickly going to flip to "why wouldn't have BT offered more for that guy, missing the opportunity to improve the team" as more peeps go to other teams, isn't it.

Meh, they're doing a pretty good job.

2020

1st round picks: OTT, SJ (two top ten picks in this draft year? That's huge)
2nd round picks: OTT, CBJ, DAL
3rd round picks: OTT, WPG

and they still have Pageau and Hainsey as expiring UFAs.

Considering the Flames are a stone's throw from having two 3rd round picks this year, I'be be surprised if they didn't turn a 3rd into a depth D.

A little surprised they didn't choose this one. RHD. Can't be a worse option than Stone, can he?

Ottawa has Namestnikov and Ennis too. But if this deal is any indication, they might not be dealing from a position of leverage.

Might be a good opportunity to nab a guy like Namestnikov for a 5th and try to re-sign him. I think he's unbelievably underrated.

Probably helps his CF% rel number that he plays on a terrible team though, no?

Still has an ES CF% of 53 so he's still performing extremely well on a very bad team.

Seems like the consensus for the fancy stats folks is this is a terrible return for Ottawa. So, good I guess?

terrible return especially when you compare to what it cost the Blues to get Scandella.

Good pick up by the Jets at a decent price too.

Flames should have been in on this one at that cost.

Guess it likely comes down to Ottawa taking whatever they felt was the best third round pick. Jets play in the harder division so more likely to be lower in the standings I guess.

Honestly I wouldn't be surprised if they also offered a 3rd but the Sens picked the Jets' because they think it might be higher.
