The old Chicken On The Way racist sign. It was wooden cutout sign depicting an African-American man running with a plate of chicken. When political correctness eeked its way into society, they cut off the head and left the decapitated sign that way for years. They have subsequently redesigned the sign to a generic white dude running with a plate of chicken.
The tanks you could play on at the entrance to Sarcee barracks.
Being able to drive into Glenmore park 24/7.
I worked at the Majestic as a bell hop back in the day. What a bizarre place it was. Strippers in the day, biker bar with bands at night. If I remember correctly, there was a sign above the entrance to the magic stick about no colours allowed.

Oh and the little gay bar tucked in the corner.
When the Sarcee Barracks weren't borderline slum/boarded up
I spent a good chunk of my elementry years living there and it was awesome, big field, big hill and now its just run down. I remember there was a wading pool and convinience store next to the rink.

I remember a restaurant called Mother's. I think it was a Spaghetti place, at least I always remember getting spaghetti and a root beer float. I believe the place was in the NE, and there may have been a 2nd one in the south. It had also had a self playing piano. I moved from Calgary in 1986, so I don't know when it closed down, but I'm pretty sure it isn't around anymore.

Yeah Mother's Pizza - they had a number of places in Calgary - including in the NE and one on Macleod. Good pizza.
Years after they all shut down they was still a take out up in the Beddington Towne Centre Mall. Sadly it too now is gone.

Yup, my dad still lives in Lakeview and whenever I get back to Calgary to visit I end up driving past the reservation. It makes me quite sad to see how bad it is.
Mothers! First year of high school we went to Mother's virtually everyday. My god they made a good pie. And sold by the slice?! That place was great.
Edit: I am pretty sure the owners of the Mother's in Beddington moved their location to Country Hills 5-6 years back so yes, it is definatley still the same Mother's.

Logo is the same but it ooks like just take-out/delivery. Worth a try though me thinks.
I remember it being a bit "Old Fashioned" style of a restaurant. I don't remember it being a Pizza place. Perhaps they changed to Pizza after a while. I don't know, I was just about 11 when I moved. I'll ask my Dad when I see him tonight, he's got a good remembery for things like this.
(yes i intentionally morphed remember and memory into one word)
