Default Kitchen / Basement Renovations

How does one go about finding a decent, reputable and professional contractor?
It's for a kitchen tear down and gut then re-develop the basement.

Using Google search, I may as well be playing pin the tail on the company.

Any recommendations from the CP faithful?

Cheers.

a guy i used toi work with went with ultimate for his basement. the price of the poroject increased as it went along. but i think that was part of him seeing what they could do. his basement was quite nice when done.

wonder how hard it will be to find a company to take on a project like this with the flood work that is out there waiting to be done.

We are in the middle of a main floor reno with Renovation Design Centre. We have been really happy so far.

They are owned by Mint Flooring and Crystal Creek Homes. They are at Deerfoot and Glenmore. Really upfront and seem to be pretty honest so far.

I played hockey with one of the owners.

The guy we are dealing with is Brett.

Way back when I did my basement, Ultimate was 50% higher than the next quote. Their cost per square foot was obscene. The other issue I had was that for the price they were quoting, their specs were a bit on the vague side which meant lots of room for upcharges.

We had our basement done by Ken Colby (KenCan Contracting - http://kencan.ca/). He (and the people he brought in) did a great job and was very accommodating and helpful. I highly recommend him
