I get CHL's frustration, especially dead of winter, #### roads, when you just want to blow the salt off and someone's dicking around like their car is headed to Barrett Jackson.

I can't seem to find a decent wand wash that I can clean my truck for under $10, there's a few that are cheaper but they're generally crappy, cold water with almost no soap.

For the same price, newer auto ones seem to work pretty well. Happy to see more and more touchless ones too, they don't mess up the paint plus I can't use the brushes since they would screw up all my antennas and crap on my roof anyway

No one is doing a decent job for $4. Yeah you're getting most of the crap off, but if their vehicle is black it probably looks unwashed 15 mins later from the dirt film left behind.

WRGMG is trying to order some gifts from Old Navy this afternoon, selecting a bunch of items, then trying to check out only to have the site "EMPTY MY BAG" and when I go back in, nothing is left!

The wash I go to, it will say $4 on the clock in the bay but when you check your VISA it is $8-$10 bucks. I'm assuming just old tech, not that they are trying to rip people off (though maybe both). Maybe these guys are just going by the wash bay timer.

Depends on how much time you get per coinage. I've lucked out on place that given you decent time.

Dirt film is often because of the place using recycled water.

What's normal? The ones I'm familiar with are $2 for 3 minutes...

We probably all have a different threshold for what constitutes a clean car, too. Is Dion cleaning his wheels, under his fenders, hitting the undercarriage? Does he have any soap film or road grime still on the car when he leaves? Are all the bugs off? Is the windshield crystal clear or is there dirt impregnated into the glass around where the wipers can't reach (I see that all the time)?

I'll give my vehicles a quick blast to get the salt off sometimes and don't worry about the wheels, glass, etc., but if I'm actually washing the car to get it looking really nice, not a fataing chance does that only cost $4 no matter where you go.

Yes, it’s probably tough realising you’re slower than Dion at something, but alas.

You can crank out a good wash for $4, no problem.

I actually never would have guessed car washing would be such a contentious subject, leading to suspensions etc. until today.

I mean, I wash my vehicle every once in awhile, probably takes about 10 minutes and costs about $10. Never thought of it much more than that.

Worst is camping season with all the RV's taking up 2 spots. Must cost like $30-40 for their washes.

CHL’s mistake is not taking up the gap so the guy in the bay doesn’t even know that someone is waiting.
