What ignorant responses. Croatians and Serbians can't be trusted to have a soccer game without reigniting a war? Gross. Not totally shocked coming from you two though.

I mean I wouldn't say war, but we know there would be clashes between the fans. It's nothing personal, we just know the Serbs and Croats aren't having tea anytime soon.

I love when White Out comes in with righteous indignation, its just so much fun.

Ignorant you say? So...the Serbs and Croats are lovey dovey neighbours with little to no chance of a riot?

Its not like the fans of these two teams have ever rioted against each other before....

Nothing major happened in the 2013 Qualifying games between Croatia and Serbia. Although there were huge security precautions and concerns taken around the games to help ensure there was no violence.

You'd likely see something similar in this case where they just wouldn't allow ticket sales to the away team / foreigners during the tie.

But yeah there would be precautions and security concerns for sure and you never know how it would go if those two clubs meet for the first time since 90/91.

Club ultras tend to be crazier than the following you get for the national teams too which is what would drives the extra concern here for sure too.

Righteous indignation? I don't know if you're just that clueless or not paying attention, all I came in with is "hey this would be a great matchup" kind of post. You and your buddy decided to do the same old negative BS in any soccer thread and talked about wars breaking out from a soccer game.

It's like your not even trying to hide your trolling anymore. Your post sucked, your opinion was garbage, and I pointed it out. Probably a little racist too ("damn Yugoslavians").

I mean we all predicted the end of Madrid when Spurs and Liverpool made the final. It's just how we do.

Locke’s referencing the Balkin War was over the top for sure (while also being a bit tongue in cheek) but to be fair to them I don’t think anybody should really look at that match up and think “Oh great that would be fun”.

The concern of a riot or violence between ultras is justified in a situation like that, where you have two teams that have the political and on-field history that those two teams have.

It was no different when Juventus and Liverpool met for the first time after the Heysel disaster in 2005. Lots of concern and extra security measures were taken around that tie as well for similar reasons.

Any time you have two clubs with that type of history around them you are going to have to deal with people mentioning/worrying about the tragedies of the past.

Munich will be fine. It's a rebuilding stage for them right now but they needed to get younger.

Losing Sanches hurt but in the last two windows they added Lucas Hernandez (23), Pavard (23), Cusance (20), Davies (18), Goretzka (23), Coman (23), Gnabry (24), Tolisso (25), & Sule (23).

Plus Alaba is still only 27, and Kimmich is 24.

They aren't the sure thing top 4 in the world squad they were for the first half of this decade but I'm guessing they will get there again in 2 years or so.

No love for the Europa League Draw?

Quote:
Group A: Sevilla, APOEL, Qarabag, Dudelange

Group B: Dynamo Kiev, FC Copenhagen, Malmo, Lugano

Group C: Basel, Krasnodar, Getafe, Trabzonspor

Group D: Sporting CP, PSV, Rosenborg, LASK

Group E: Lazio, Celtic, Rennes, Cluj

Group F: Arsenal, Eintracht Frankfurt, Standard Liege, Vitoria

Group G: Porto, Young Boys, Feyenoord, Rangers

Group H: CSKA Moscow, Ludogorets, Espanyol, Ferencvaros

Group I: Wolfsburg, Gent, St. Etienne, Olexandriya

Group J: Roma, Borussia Monchengladbach, Istanbul Basaksehir, Wolfsberg

Group K: Besiktas, Braga, Wolves, Slovan Bratislava

Group L: Manchester United, Astana, Partizan Belgrade, AZ Alkmaar

United, who won the competition in 2017, are now looking at travelling to Kazakhstan and Serbia as well as the Netherlands. Solskjaer's men face the prospect of a 6,000 mile round trip to Kazakhstan, with another 2,000 mile round trip to Belgrade to contend with as well. United have never played in Kazakhstan before, with Solskjaer's side set for a six-and-a-half hour journey during what will be a hectic fixture schedule.

There are some believe that a riot in Zagreb between Dinamo and Red Star fans touched off the war in 1991. So Locke's claim isn't outlandish IMO.

Quote:
The incident took place just weeks after Croatia's first multi-party elections in almost 50 years in which the parties favouring Croatian independence had won the majority of votes. The riot resulted in over 60 people wounded, including some stabbed, shot or poisoned by tear gas
A famous Croatian and Dinamo captain, Zvonimir Boban drop kicked a riot police in defense of a Dinamo fan.

Quote:
Here I was, a public face prepared to risk his life, career, and everything that fame could have brought, all because of one ideal, one cause; the Croatian cause.
I have no doubt that a Dinamo-Red Star rematch in a R16 would ignite passions and bring back memories of the 1990 riot. Likely wouldn't be played behind closed doors, but a special ruling would come down from UEFA that no visiting fans are allowed. This happened when Croatia & Serbia played each other in qualifying in 2013, with Croatia obviously coming out on top

man, racism in Italy really is off the charts. Pathetic.

Quote:
A pundit on Italian TV was immediately suspended following racist comments he made on-air regarding Inter Milan striker Romelu Lukaku. TopCalcio24's Luciano Passirani was suspended shortly after making a comment directed at Lukaku on Sunday.

Speaking on the Qui Studio a Voi Stadio show, Passirani started off by saying, "I don't see any other player in Italy now like Lukaku. [...] I really like him," before adding, "the only way to stop him is to say, Here are ten bananas that you can eat."

Lukaku was targeted with monkey chants by Cagliari fans this month.
