I’d actually give Sainz a penalty based on Seb’s on-board. Hulk should definitely get one or two penalties. First he took the escape road, which they were explicitly warned against doing unless necessary, and then he blocked Seb mere seconds later. Hulk didn’t even bother to fake a lock up like Seb did earlier in qually.
Yep, and like you said it already had precedent set for F3 qualy (assuming it was similar). I'd love it just to see what would be a fantastic race IMO...
And not sure if anyone saw the crash from F3...jesus H. Thats some scary air time. Peroni is ok and so was everyone else (marshalls were hella close).
This is the F3 video for anyone interested and it’s why they warned the F1 drivers about doing similar and set the min lap time to 1min 45sec, so it’s not like they weren’t warned.
It got so bad in F3 they just straight up red flagged the session to avoid someone getting killed.
Nobody wanted to go first on the final run of Q3 because the tow at Monza is so strong. They all came out of the pits together and everyone played chicken, slowing down refusing to go first and give the guy behind a tow. Except they all went so slow that no one made it around their outlap on time and the clock hit zero.
As a result Sainz and both the Renaults qualified ahead Albon who didn’t even set a lap time, Seb never got in a great quick lap and is 4th, Stroll didn’t even set a Q3 time at all.
There’s more details but that’s the quick version.

No penalties, just “reprimands” for Stroll, Hulk and Sainz. I think that just means they get demerit points and could be penalized in the future if they have more at fault incidents.
I’m not completely familiar with the criteria for a black flag but you have to think Vettel came pretty close there. What an idiot! If Stroll doesn’t leave the track -and put himself in a potential dangerous situation- he could’ve killed Seb.
Not sure what Stroll was thinking by making the same move on Gasly though.

It looked like Stroll at least tried to wait for a gap, letting several cars pass first. Still not smart from him.
I agree with Croft’s, Leclerc has now surpassed Vettel as the #1 driver.
Nice late edit to get some points, i was going to make some changes but slept in and quali had started.
Haha, well I saw how close our picks were and wanted to swing for the fences. With all the penalties, engine changes, etc could've picked after Q3 and still had a bunch wrong. I still think there should be be penalties for that.
That was a solid race by Leclerc. I really thought Merc was going to get him. Bottas just makes too many mistakes. At least 3 lockups / missed apexes. Those hard tires really hung on and that Ferrari was incredibly fast on the straight.
Vettel is lost. Just a dangerous move (same for Stroll). And Max ruined his race in turn 1 again.
Just a clarification of the "rules"...since this pool happened pretty quick and evolved over the first few weeks of the season.
I was under the impression that you do not need to get your picks in BEFORE qualifying. You obviously need to before the race starts. It was suggested that we do it before qualifying just to make it a little more challenging with how predictable the top 6 were for the first few races and that had been the MO ever since. I haven't really been checking pick post times to qualifying, just those that were race day. Seems to be working well with how close the weeks have been.
For full disclosure my picks were changed at the start of qualifying and again when I noticed I had 2 Vettel's. Since we all put $$ in if anyone has an issue with the timing of my changes, other issues, or ideas, for next year please bring it up. This is meant to fun for all and I dont want to discourage anyone from not entering.
Next year we will tighten things up (pick entry deadline, no picks being carried forward, etc).

Well, this could be awkward...Cecil and I led the way this week tying with 56pts each. With Fuzz and 3thirty having tough weeks, this really tightened up the race for 1st (8pt spread) and 3rd (3rd is a tie and 9pts cover 4 guys).
Fuzz just had terrible luck as he had the most right picks (8/10) but just slotted wrong. 3thirty and Btimbit (7/10) were in the same boat but 3thirty extended his lead in the Most Correct Top 10.
I should add that I haven't seen/heard of any changes as a result of Alfa Romeo's protest in Germany. With how tight the pool is if anyone does see it, please post it so I can update everything, a few picked Raikkonen.
As always, have a look for any mistakes. Next race is Singapore in 2 weeks!!
Spoiler!
