Fox is a tool. I really hope he has the same faith as Tom.. sign with the damn team that drafted you and stop being so entitled (especially when he has proven nothing at the NHL level).
As for the Rangers - must be nice to have all these young prospects and free agents wanting to sign with you. They still suck though and haven't done anything with the gifts they have gotten.

I usually don't want to wish players failure in the league. Fox has just played the rules to suit his purpose. It is bad form though. I'm glad Flames were able to extract some value from him.

I can recall a few trades being made during the playoffs but I can't recall a time that a team made a trade while still being in the playoffs themselves

Not really signed with the Hurricanes, so it is a future asset being traded. All rumours were talking about the conversation being on-going for quite some time.

He can go back to school and still would have signed with the Rangers after his senior year IMO. This just gets him a signing bonus and starts him getting closer to RFA sooner if he so chooses.
This was pretty much his end game all along...and I have little doubt that "through the grapevine" he was assured that the Rangers would sign him.
Good player and really a good spot for him to land in terms of where the team is on their rebuild.

I'm not sure what it is he "demanded"?
Not defending him not wanting to sign in Calgary, but every player has that option with every team.

So our trade with Carolina now is:
Hamilton, Ferland, 2019-NYR 2nd and conditional 2020-3rd (possible 2nd) for Hanifin and Lindholm

I think he was going to sign in Carolina if they could get him in games this year and the plan for Carolina was to trade a top-6 to make room for him
However that became hard to do when Carolina didn't trade anyone at the deadline and were in a dog fight to make the playoffs. And now in the playoffs, fox obviously isn't better than anyone in the top 6 for Carolina.
