I know a lot of people hate this minnows versus the super powers and the high scoring one sided results but for anyone that watched the GB celebrations when they won, tell me they don't deserve to experience this tournament any more than the Canada's or the Russians. They earned it the hard way.
I think it felt more pointless when you had four team divisions with often just one punching bag in a division. It made the differences look so black and white, that there's just good teams and insignificant teams. Losing a game to an underdog was just embarrassing, and winning felt like nothing.

This new(ish) eight team division system shows there's much more of a spectrum. You get to see teams like Latvia or Denmark dominate games, which makes them feel a lot less irrelevant, and you have more upsets.

Plus, the "small" nations are also inching closer to the "big" nations, even though the latter are now regularly sending genuine superstars to the tournament, and in general the number of NHL players in the tournament is way up from what it used to be.

This Czech/Swiss game is just vicious.

Not familiar...is there a history between these two countries that has them playing with so much hate?

Frolik playing unreal hockey. Scores a beauty that chases Berra from the Swiss net.

Swiss answer immediately. 3-2 CR.

I know I'm late to the party, but GREAT BRITAIN!!!! Their compete level vs France was incredible, and this a roster which is made up majority EIHL players.

I know it's usual after performances such as this that people come out and say 'it's a good thing for [insert team/nation here], hopefully this will generate more interest!', but I don't think that's too relevant here. There are many, many factors which need to be addressed to generate increased interest and talent in the GB ranks, and performance of the big team is just one small one.

Next stage is hopefully an increase in talent coming to the EIHL, and maybe some of our players (Bowns especially) getting contracts to play in some of the bigger Euro leagues.

Totally agree with this. it is just a shame that the media in the UK, who in general have no idea about hockey, emphasise the big losses to Canada etc. rather than the achievment of staying up. The negativity turns people off from looking at hockey rather than a positive article which could get more youngsters interested.

Gaudreau back in the lineup today. Still not sure what his injury was. He'll bump Jack Hughes out of the USA lineup.

Based on the score, the Canadians completed dominated the US. For those that watched, how did our boys (Johnny, Hanifin and Ryan) look? Were they as bad as the score indicates?

I only caught parts of the second half of the game. Hanifin looked like he normally does. Ryan got hurt during the play prior to the 3rd goal against. Johnny was kind of invisible.

Canada's forecheck was giving the US problems all night.

Why did Treliving and staff let Philippe Myers leave development camp without an offer?
Huge, fast, RHS defenceman. Called up to Canada.

Maybe they offered him a contract but he refused. I’d love to know the inside story on that. I mean that’s Treliving favourite position (his position) and he lets Myers go?!??
How?!?

dear lord CP

JG dominates in a World Championship game and its "who cares, big ice/no contact, no pressure ect."

Held of the score sheet and "concerning"

I guess Patrick Kane is concerning too since he didn't do anything in this one game

The Swiss scored and I momentarily got excited because they are in white/red and well I'm a moron.
