One of new favorites is Ten Foot Henry on 1st St SW between 12th and 13th.
Good food and cool vibe.

I agree with the thoughts here on Shokunin. I hope they can survive but I dont see any value in their food given their high prices. A few years ago it could have been easier with the economy humming and people having spending accounts and more disposable income. Fourth Street SW has been a tough place for restaurants to survive over the long term. Theres a few that have been around a long time but theres some buildings that have been a revolving door for restaurants/lounges opening and closing.

Ate at Ten Foot Henry's on Tuesday night.
Was beyond excellent. Vegetable forward menu for the meat haters on the forum. Highly recommend and they know how to make a cocktail.

I probably wouldn't pay upwards of $20 (regular price) for those dishes but at $10 I was very satisfied and would certainly return on a Sunday or Monday. It gets really busy by 6pm though.
I also bought a $2 loaf of italian bread. They also have some really cheaply priced deli meats but I didn't purchase any this because I have a bunch of ham and beef from easter that I will probably be eating for a week.
I was hoping to check out The Pie Hole as well but they aren't open on Mondays.

They have really good pizza dough for $4 as well.

I can also vouch for Ten Foot Henry, delicious food with a vegetable focused menu but their steak and salmon were very good as well.

I'm very glad this thread didn't just degrade into a conversation about sushi and the nuances of raw fish and rice.

Good to know. Wonder if it is worth the $56 though? Would be a pricey one by the time you get through drinks and everything else.
Just looked at Selkirk's new menu- looks like they now have a Bison Wellington on their new menu.
By the way, dinner on the patio at Selkirk in the summer is awesome. Very good restaurant.

That isn't degradation, that is a fun conversation. Whether you believe so or not, there is a lot of difference between establishments putting "raw fish and rice" together.
I think Misato has dropped a notch. Currently really think that Zipang and Big Catch are top notch. Zipang for nigiri and other traditional sort of dishes, Big Catch for rolls.

Anyone know where to get Asian bun/taco things? Below photo is from Taiko Taco food truck, found out about them during the off season. I had some in NYC and I'm dying to get something similar here.

Steamed Pork Buns! You can buy the buns at T&T and make your own, there are recipes all over the internet, and a lot of Korean stores in town where you can buy the stuff.
Don't know of any places that actually serve them though!

Went to Oishii Sushi in Riverbend last night - Probably the best All You Can Eat place I've been in Calgary. Ate a ton of sushi and passed out on the couch within 5 minutes of getting home.

Went to a restaurant called 'Park' yesterday afternoon in Banff. It was awesome. The food was excellent and they have a distillery inside in which they specialize in different vodkas.
I'd highly recommend it.

Those things are incredible!
Check out Eats of Asia at the Crossroads Farmers market if you're craving bao.

I figured out where we went in NYC, Ippudo West Side. They call them Hirata Buns. Alright I'm getting hungry again. Let me know if you see these around town!

Proof serves 'em. Goes pretty good with the best cocktails in the city.

Boys (and girls), the Himalayan - wow - finally made it there for dinner tonight. The flavours are fantastic. And it was practically free ($43 for the 2 of us, mind you - stayed away from alcohol).

Is there anywhere to recommend near the dome? Friend has suggested Vagabond for a quick meal before game time, but the last time there it was crap. Where do you go? (other than pocketdawg, which will be dessert).

Went to Blanco the other day for lunch/dinner. Had tried getting in a few times but it was typically later and too busy.
I went in trying not to compare to Los Chilotos and Anejo but couldnt help myself.
The vibe was good but I would still prefer Anejo and prefer Los Chilitos food over both. We had the burrito and nachos. No complaints about the burrito although Chilitos fills it with more meat and the nachos were good/bad at the same time. Solid portion size and a ton of cheese but weak on the meat and I didnt care for the salsa as it was sweet. Not realizing the drizzle on top was sour cream I asked for some as soon as it came. That was a $3 charge and much like the salsa, did not have the sour cream taste I am used to so was disappointing.
Anejo's fresh chips and salsa they make in front of you is a must get but I ask ... do you tip the person who is not your server and spends 5 minutes crushing the tomatoes and what not in front of you or assume he/she is getting a part of the tip at the end?
