I’m surprised that he couldn’t get more than 70k for his AHL salary. Granted, that I don’t see him playing down in the minors.

How much for his next contract?
He's due for a nice raise.

I would have no problem quadrupling his current salary for four/five years.

Not sure he's earned a 3 x 3 based on just this season alone. I think a GM has to drive a hard bargain with players like this as you need to have some quality depth players on team favorable deals so you can afford to keep or acquire top pairing/line players.

Like Rasmus I think Mangiapane is a guy you gamble a bit with a "bigger" deal. Maybe a few more dollars in the first couple years to get a bargain in the third fourth and fifth years.

Well since he has arb rights and using Bennett alone as a comparable, he should likely be awarded at least 2.55, so 3X3 isnt out of the question.

That's more my line of thinking. Depending on what happens in the offseason he may get bumped back to 3rd line duty and his offensive production will reflect that which is why you have to be cautious and I expect Treliving will after being stung several times with Jooris, Bouma, etc.

Again its likely he would be awarded that in arbitration....the bar has been set.
So it would likely come down to 3Mish per or walking away from the player.

Anyone scared to lock this guy up longer term is just wrong. This isn’t moss, bouma etc... look at his historical results, he has absolutely DOMINATED at every level he has ever played. I’ve been so excited for this kid to get his shot. The fact that he’s starting to break out in the nhl on his first real chance, shows he’s doing it again. Mangi is the real deal, no question for me.
Toning down the fan boy, and on a more serious note, real question. Do we have a good comparable of a player who has found major success at every level, breaks out in the nhl and then drops off (injuries excluded) ?

I think some people need to pump the brakes a bit. I wouldn't call 12 goals and 25 points "breaking out" and Tkachuk has a habit of making 3rd line players look good. I like the player but it's a little early to start getting carried away as he's still work in progress and Mark Jankowski had a more impressive debut playing a more difficult position and look at him now.

Mangiapane deserves a raise. But I’m glad it’s Treliving negotiating and not some of the posters here. Same ones who were going to pay JG $9M.

Mangiapane has the leverage this time. He's proven he deserves a big raise.

Define big. I’m giving him 2.5-3 at most.Byron just signed $3.4 after 2 20 goals seasons (and a 15 goal in 56 game one). That seems to be where the comparable lie. And most people around this age and point level seem to get only a couple years term.

Big as in more than double his current salary.
