Here are my hot takes or bold predictions, whatever you want to call them:

- Hanifin will take a huge step forward this year in the range of 45-50+ points while continuing to improve defensively.
- Talbot will be a top ten goalie with Rittich being in the top 15
- Sam Bennett will finally break out to the tune of 50 points splitting time with Mangiapane - ryan and Tkachuk, Backlund.
-Flames will beat Colorado in the Western Conference final to advance to the Stanley Cup

1.Draisatil tries to center his own line and doesnt score more than 25 goals.

2. Oiler fans still think RNH is a 6 mil player yet he only plays 38 games due to softness and fail to trade him at deadline.

3. Mike Smith plays well enough for another contract, yet the oilers still suck

I believe higher scoring can impact casual fans and bring more fans to the game. Hardcore fsns dont need more scoring to love the game. New fans attending a game with tons of goals and a potential big comeback could lead to a fan wanting to attend more games. Also with fantasy sports increased scoring and higher points totals could increase interest.

But imo this has already been accomplished with reduce goalie equipment. Nhl goals per game was highest it been since 05/06 and 2nd highest since 95/96. Seeing kucherov get 128 which was the highest point total since 95/96 when Lemieux and Jagr had 161 and 149. Seeing players today do what legends like Mario Lemieux used to do creates excitement in the league. It also contributes to all time stats too. Ovechkin has 658 career goals and now is playing in a league where 50 goals is easier to get then it was 15 years ago. He has a chance to make a run at Gretzky's record. This also makes the league more exciting. Today's day and age stats/fantasy sprost are a huge contributor to the success of the league

To match goalie and related equipment sizes.

-The puck didn’t go in.
Bolded are hot takes, the others are just bold predictions

James Neal should have been given 20 games in a row on one of the top two lines.

bold: Mike Smith will suck, and Derek Wills / Peter Loubardias will do a complete 180 degree turn and pin the Oilers struggles primarily on him, despite how amazing a human being he is off the ice.

We will all purchase basement waterproofing kit and radon monitoring systems from Doug Lacey - because we are all finally convinced/scared by Chad after all these years of brainwashing....

Keith Tkachuk has been pushing Treliving to trade for his son Brady since the Mark Stone trade, because he knows that Ottawa is a gong show with no leadership and thereby risks stunting Brady's development. In contrast, Gio is one of the best mentors in the game. Keith is further wielding influence by suggesting both his sons will sign long term discounts with Calgary if Tre can do his family the solid.

Keith has also made it clear that Brady will sit out if he's not traded by the time his entry level contracts is up.

People who don’t know what a hot take is are as awful to watch as the Edmonton Oilers.

Kylington is our 4th best defenceman, sitting him for Fantenberg was one of the main reasons the flames weren't as good down the stretch and in the playoffs.

Vancouver has better centers than the flames and will make the playoffs this year.

- Mangiapane is a potential 1st line talent
- The Flames still miss both Paul Byron and Micheal Ferland
- Backlund is the Flames' best center and would produce very well in Monahan's role (PP / 3v3 / 5v5 / 4v4 etc)
- Hamonic is inferior to Brodie and may soon be surpassed by Andersson too
- Jankowski should be shifted to the wing and tried higher up the lineup
Isn't this.. Isn't this just what you usually post?

Monahan playing away from Gaudreau would would force him to drive play and be a true line driving #1 centre.

Tkachuk and Johnny switching spots would make Calgary a contender.

Honestly, a motivated and healthier Jagr would have done more wonders than Neal on the 2018-19 Flames.

I am going to say Monahan succeeding away from Gaudreau is not a hot take, while Calgary not currently being a contender is a hot take.

Sean Monahan should be named team captain, with Andrew Mangiapane and Mark Giordano assigned supporting roles.

Oh wait.... that really happened.
