You think that it could've been settled a while ago. Maybe the Ducks were playing some serious hardball.

Is it wrong that I didn’t know who Ritchie was, and the first player that came to mind was Ritchie Regehr?

That's what I was thinking. Granted he hasn't broken 30 points in a season but I assume maybe the Ducks were holding firm at close to $1 million a season.

Who am I to judge, but the Flames did have some rumours linking them to having some interest in Ritchie at the draft (also in regards to trades afterwards IIRC). Although I'm not sure if they were legit or just fans talking/speculating.

Good deal for Anaheim.

Yeah I don't think he wanted a 3 year. Probably wanted a 2 year prove it contract and Murray wanted term for cost certainty.
