I am also heading t that game but will be heading directly from the Collesium in Oakland Raiders Chargers at 1 and the Flames-Sharks at 6. Our current plan is Uber which I think may be quicker than the train.

Take the audio tour at Alcatraz.
Try "The Stinking Rose" restaurant but only towards the end of the trip. You'll understand why when you go.
Cool record stores at Haight Ashbury.
Don't stay in Oakland very long.

The train looks like it may not run on weekends.
Any other tips for going to the game(s) would be appreciated.
We are also planing on going to Warriors game Saturday night and Monday night football game vs Giants. Looking to buy tickets for all three.
Any other advise would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

SF Caltrain station is closed on the weekend due to renovation but they run bus shuttles from SF Caltrain station to Bayshore station.
Alternatively, since you’re in Union Square, you can take the BART from Powell station to Millbrae and transfer onto the Caltrain station there.

Honestly, I think you're better off driving or taking a rideshare taxi.
If you're at all a nerd, there is the Computer History Museum in San Jose's suburb of Mountain View.

Took the train to the game a few years back and remember it was incredibly packed due to rush hour. I'd imagine driving via Uber, etc... at that time of day might be even more of a nightmare. We took the BART, so as mentioned above that might be your best move and then transfer.
There was a cool theatre in Oakland called the Fox Theatre. Really cool setup, maybe check and see if there are any cool bands playing during your time there.

Rent a car or Uber. We rented a car to go from SJ to SF and vice versa then took Uber in each city.

Yeah, you can get rentals in the States for as cheap as $20 per day occasionally.
Even if you have to pay for parking at the arena, it will still be cheaper than a one hour uber ride in each direction.
If you don't really care about budget, uber is the way to go.
Or you could try Getaround, or another peer to peer car rental service.

I was planning on Uber as well.
We're there for the Raiders game on Sunday, then the 49ers game on Monday. Saw there was a Flames game the Sunday so a few of us might take in that as well. Still on the fence for the Warriors game on Saturday as I'm not much of a basketball fan.
Any recommendations on hotel? We haven't booked yet, but I was thinking somewhere downtown San Jose might work best.

When you’re in San Jose try Original Joe’s. It’s an institution there. Not the chain you find here. It’s just down from the Fairmont which is where I would recommend staying. The burger in unbelievable. Belly up to the bar near the grill to watch the action. https://www.sanjoseoriginaljoes.com

A number of years ago, I went to Flames/Sharks for HNIC then the Rams/49ers game at Candlestick Sunday. I was staying in the Fisherman's Wharf area, and the train to SJ and back was by far the easiest. A friend who lives in the area came with us and strongly advised the train. But if some stations are closed it is more problematic now.

Do NOT be on the fence for the Warrior game! even if you are not a big basketball fan the atmosphere at the Oracle Arena is second to none.

My Lyft suggests an ride from Union square to SAP center will be just under $100 each way. Take the Caltrain (and associated shuttle bus). If you do the walk to the arena from the station is like 10 minutes max.

Calgarian over here, living in San Francisco.
BART (Bay Area Rapid Transit) and Caltrain is totally convenient from Union Square.
With that being said, your travel time will be 2 hours ONE way due to weekend train schedules, there's no Caltrain bullet service (minimal stops) on the weekend. If you're okay with the travel time, take the train.
From Union Square: walk to Powell Station Bart and catch a train bound for Millbrae.
Exit BART at the Millbrae stop.
The Millbrae BART stop services both Caltrain and BART.
Exit the BART platform and locate/enter the Caltrain platform.
Catch any Caltrain heading south.
Ride Caltrain to the San Jose Diridon Station stop.
Get off at Diridon and it's a 10 minute walk to SAP Center.
The Raiders are also playing on that same Sunday, you might end up with riding with a few of their fans, depending on when their game ends in Oakland.
EDIT: There is an alternate route through Fremont/Warm Springs but I don't recommend it because it rolls through Oakland and the Raider fans will make it a lot harder to get through public transit.
