It's funny, if I don't get a chance to watch a game from the start, before I check the score, I'll just see which threads have been bumped and have a good idea about how the game is going.

Jiri knows that, I think we shouldn't take away from the point of his post. I doubt Jiri was personally affected, but was addressing what appears to be a useless trend.

Even if the Flames did lose the trade, Chucky didn’t want to be in Calgary anymore. If it was a player/prospect front office just gave up for no reason and they became a star somewhere else then I’d be pissed. Also, I’m honestly glad that we don’t have to deal with defending Chucky’s antics anymore

As long as a bump is relevant, I don't see the harm?

Agreed, see Jiri's post he pretty much said the same thing. I'm not going to repeat the issue he was addressing, I am pretty sure you read my post.

FWIW I still give Treliving an A+ for getting all he did for Tkachuk. If you want to debate the merits of instantly signing Huberdeau to a massive contract when it took you 11 months, 29 days and about 12 hours to make that offer to Gaudreau, well that I think is a point worth debating.

I will say though, this team had too much changeover from the 3 biggest / key players. I am in no way a Tkachuk fan whatsoever, but can recognize he is a good player removed from the Flames. I’m actually surprised as I thought he would drop off like a rock. So good for him.
For Calgary though, it’s clear too much change occurred. We are now a middling team, we needed to keep at least one of the three. It’s kind of weird when you get these big trades in your favor of big names, but all of a sudden it’s not the homegrown talent (draft picks) any longer and feels like you actually lose who your team is / has/had become.

Flames would be in massive trouble on the backend with Weegar
I know points points points are the only factor for some but with Kylington MIA it's a good thing they got him. Weegar/Zadorov are the Flames best pair

Oh man, I loved that play by Tkachuk and it was utilized perfectly last season. It's like the bump back pass in the neutral zone to gain entry on a PP, except at the side of the net and gave Lindholm the perfect passes to bang home to unprepared goalies.

To further this point, he was a dual threat, as he would also drive the net from the side, in the event Lindy wasn't open. I do openly miss both Tkachuk and Johnny G on this team. Such exciting players and it'll be a long time, if ever, we get a player with as much puck handling skill as Johnny, who lifts people out of their seats.

The sad part is Huberdeau is actually coming around and Weegar has been one of the Flames best defenders.
It’s the rest of the team - Dube, Mangiapane, Hanifin, Tanev, Markstrom and co. that are the bigger problem at this point.
And since his hot start, Kadri has been a huge pile of suck.

Man, Kadri just looks frustrated as hell. He wouldn't be sucking if he wasn't playing with pure suck.

I am noticing that Kadri is a bit of a puck hog. I have no idea if it pisses off NHL players, but it would annoy the hell out of me if he was on my team.

Puck hog compared to what though? Literally no one else on the team seems to even want the puck. I think Kadri's desire to make plays rather than just dump it into the freaking corner at every opportunity should be praised - not bemoaned.
Same situation with Bennett and the criticism he faced. Dude was trying to make plays while he was on the ice playing with anchors for line mates.
Huberdeau, Kadri, Lindholm, Toffoli are the only top-6 forwards this team has. Mangiapane's cliff dive has left this team in a really bad spot, as has Dube's failure to develop into anything more than a 4th line forward. I just don't think Kadri's play is something we should be targeting. Plenty is wrong with team without focusing in on our 2nd line centre who is producing like a 2nd line centre should be.
